I've no problem where you play, or who you are mates with. But when the forum needs transparency, and re-installment of trust and integrity, we need fresh outlooks a new viewpoint, not another guy from the same group of people. Now I'm sorry that is tarring you with the one brush.

But the minute you posted about the IAA auditing of threads or something, it was very clear that at some point you had a chat with Andy G and probably Ozcam and some others be it through PM, email or whilst onsite together, and had a discussion about how Andy would open a thread, and you would ask that question.

Lads we are knocking about the internet a long time, you couldnt have made it more blatant what you were trying to do in that thread, so in from that point ( and I dont know if I've actually ever met you) straight away I determined
    • Hes in with Andy and the lads
    • Hes anti-IAA
    • Hes going to be hassle

Week or two later your a mod...see what I'm getting at?
For the sake of transparency, I'll give you this.
This was raised in the mod forum - the fact that the IAA forums were closed was given and the point was made that a mod was being asked by a user if could they start a thread to discuss something IAA related.

I interjected at that point and said no, it was a bad idea, and I'd attempt to contact an IAA committee member and ask what the story was - which I did by PM here on boards.

Several days passed and I got no response despite the person that I PMd being online here so 'we' decided that the thread in question should be started - there was no ulterior motive that I was aware of, if I ever find out that there was then it is not something I will let rest.

Alive and kicking, where did this rumour come from that the site was closed, your like the 5th person I've heard say it
As was said, the site membership is closed - I'd also love to hear an official reason for this.

Did you try email? its been long policy here that boards is not the place to ask questions to the IAA, it was when I was on the committee.
    ^this

This is why we are having this discussion. The policy, whilst technically unofficial as it was never enshrined in the charter, was there on the basis that questions could be asked in public on the IAA site and could be answered there in an official capacity.
Again, we need to decide if this policy needs to continue or is there a compromise.

Steve, you said it was a good idea. I am just puzzled as to why the other mods felt it wouldn't work. Impartiality is the key here.
The decision on that needed to be unanimous, it wasn't. I'll leave it up to the other mods concerned to decide if they wish to post their reasons here.

Not at all. Comments like that don't help. Its not as if the lads are planning world domination.

When I was on it, and I'm sure some of the other lads would agree, there are quiet periods where you don't have anything major happening or busy periods where you are in the middle of IAA related business or personal things and you can't/don't post.

    Its not being secretive.

Getting back to the lack of consensus on the moderation issue. I was not asking for changes in policy. I am not looking for a whole new list of rules to be written. I am merely looking for a way that a thread could be run without the "blame game" being played every time there is a moderation decision to be made.

Steve, you said it was a good idea. I am just puzzled as to why the other mods felt it wouldn't work. Impartiality is the key here.

I objected to your suggestion as I will not be sidelined from my tasks as a Moderator because a small minority perceive that I might be prejudiced against them. I also believe this would set a dangerous precedent for the future where groups could pick and choose who they wanted to moderate their threads.
Judge me on my Moderation skills and actions. If you or anyone else believes they are not up to standard, take it those who selected me. Until then I will continue to moderate this forum without fear or bias.

I dont believe this will happen because Boards.ie would not allow it to happen. All I asked for was a different set of mods, independant to the IAA history, to allow for a non-biased thread to be able to run without history on either side coming into the equation. I believe we have Mods who do Airsoft Adverts only here, so why not one or two for an IAA discussion thread.

Who is this minority of which you speak? People who are passionate about the sport and won't sit by and watch over-moderation of a forum that was once the center of information for Airsoft in Ireland. There are a lot more people out there who feel the same but decided that, rather than waste their energy arguing with the mods here, it would be better to go to a more open forum. With them they took a wealth of knowledge and experience which is obvious from how quiet the Boards.ie forum has become.

That I will, if I am allowed to do so.

Can anyone tell me who the lads are from the IAA here on Boards so I may pm them? I emailed them 9 days ago and still haven't got a response, thanks.

So, looks like there was a decision taken on this, then. Were you planning on telling us?

Around the time you go against that decision and get yourself a nice little ban

Literally such a waste having these " opinion threads?"

Its such a ****ing nuisance, and I can't convey the annoyance of this place anymore, any feedback or comments go on deaf ears.
    No surprise there really
If the IAA wishes to make an official statement then we'll publish it, usual channels are still open

No one gives a **** about a statement, everyone knows, and sure they wouldnt be able to even draft one going by the lack of anything thats been done this year.

So as usual, no IAA discussion

And on a seperate note, while I know Thermo has posted underneath this
sorry but advertising is not allowed on the main page, hence the lock/edit.
The lad has just announced his closure, been in the community years, and would have been nice to let people convey their thanks and best wishes. Bit of ****ing common sense like....

And, going by all other mods thanked the post, leading to there been no actual dissagreement, makes things, yet again , more heartbreaking.
