I always struggle to get the first. The only magpie I have caught without being given a call bird was under very strange circumstances. One morning I heard a loud tapping at our patio doors in the dinning room. When I looked a magpie was pecking furiously at a butterfly on the opposite side of the glass. It flew off once it seen me only to return about 2 mins later. I caught the butterfly in a pint glass and put it in the trap on the deck. Within about 30 mins I had caught the magpie :-)

    Lads.

On the issue of trading, selling, etc of callbirds. This issue has come up on many occasions, and unfortunately the answer is still the same.

The trading, selling, giving, lending, etc, etc of call birds is a tricky subject, and one we have on numerous occasions sought a resolution to from those in the know. Thus far we have yet to receive a definite "Yay" or "Nay" as to whether this practice is 100% legal.

We are continuing to seek a definite answer, but until such a time we are airing on the side of caution and do not want to risk the site or our members by allowing discussions on what may very well be illegal activity.

We will update as we get new information.
