What type of mpg would you expect to get (I hate that mpg is now such a major issue)

320d is something I may start considering. My 530d has been good to me. Presume the swirl flaps was an issue in those right to 04? Although the blanks are cheap anyway

Yeah blanks are cheap, or just remove them. What about an Mg Zt?

The Mpg? i've done nearly ticking on 1,800 miles since i've bought it, and gotten 44mpg but alot of that was town driving.

On long trips (To Ennis and back) and 60 mph i managed 54 mpg.

Going to Cork i managed 54 mpg going down and an average of 49.5 over the whole trip.

Wouldn't be an MG lover admittedly. Old prejudices lol

Not bad on the mpg at all! Do they hold the road well. They look like a quite sturdy car

    Yeah, hold it perfectly infairness.

The MG ZT has the Bmw engine with a Mitsubishi turbo so you won't find much better!

Edit: Probably not as well as the E39, as i've heard they're a fantastic machine to handle. i've only ever driven 520i's in them and never really drove them on.

Looks of the mg just wouldn't float my boat.

Seems to be some clean Jags out there too

Thanks for the replies RJ and LM, makes sense to do it that way.

@Alan, I suppose I'll just have to ring and ask them what's the situation when I do go for my own insurance.

Yeah, that lad only bought that last month. The "one owner" thing is also a lie as he's obviously the 2 owner, and the fact it's a UK import. (D regs ended at 82,000 in 05.)

Wonder why he's shifting it on so soon? Must tip off anyway. Food for thought, will defo consider the jag option. I shall be back tomorrow with more rants and ramblings no doubt. Cheers for the help dude!

No hassle. Probably/more than likely bought it to sell it on again.

Barnett & Barnett are the insurance company for dominoes. So my car being hit by other driver gets looked after by them.

I've being asked by the franchise manager to get a quote for repairs to my car for damage caused by other driver.

So, off to Clonskeagh Honda, then Gerry Maguires and car craft for quotes to give to my manager. I'm gonna get 2 different quotes of each crowd. One with car rental too. Dont know about replacement car or anything yet :/

Really told nothing so far, managers lack of knowledge and English doesn't help !

But should be fun ! :)

Hopefully this won't take long to sort out and all will be well

But if they act up I'll be on to someone like the insurance federation people ?

Wish it was snowing insted of rain for driving on :(

That's what I told the person who asked me. Report back to us though, I never heard what happened with the person who asked me.

    Hello carcraft

€1,497.53 sounds quite nice for a new bumper, grill, headlight unit, brackets, support bars and car rental.

I'll let the company or their insurance company pay you :)

    Gerry Maguires over 2K

And Honda wanted me to give them €50 just to get a price / estimate !

This is fairly normal practise. The €50 is then refunded when/if the work is carried out. Otherwise you'd have people going into Honda, getting the highest price with all genuine parts, handing it to the insurance company and then when the cheque arrives they go to the local panel beater to get it fixed for half the price. In that scenario Honda would be quoting for work all day long and getting none.

Insurance companies have begun to preempt this by taking your quote and dealing direct with the crash repair centre so as to eliminate you* swindling them out of additional money.

*not meant as you personally but you the claimant.

I've no problem with that at all.

Wouldn't do something like that anyway

Just once they fix it I'm happy.

Wonder how smooth this will go.

Lads. I was wondering . If I buy a car from garage, then I should be able to pay with laser? Half laser, half cash? Would salesman stil see it as "cash" deal?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,472 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

I doubt they would accept any plastic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,924 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

Question number 2: high number on number plate is a sign of import? For example 08 d Xxxxxx?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,472 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Over 120000 would be an import.

I don't see why not tbh if they have the facility, most with a service dept will have that :) Once the car is priced accordingly of course.

ShadowEarth, 'twould be considered a cash deal.

I paid a chunk of my last car purchase via visa debit card/laser.

You've less chance of finding it unsold but if you do you're more likely to get money off as its been for sale a while so id definitely call.

I noticed some cars being read re advertised almost daily. Some of them are just there for ages. Does some deal take off adds at some stage?

I might try this weekend few local cars in old adds. Who knows, might be still there.

Ive noticed an awful amount being bumped up nearly daily/every few days at least too. The ads stay there until they are removed or sold I think. There may be a maximum of 2/3 months though, I'm not sure.

Do try anyway, the worst they can say is that it's sold!

I think what that means is that whatever it costs to VRT the car is included in the price i.e. you won't have to pay more on top of that to VRT it.
