Use it for what though? You wont be able to use it to illuminate anything, it wont serve a (functional) purpose.

It's a cracking weekend of rallying, and there's a massive entry this year.

Anyone here drive on the motorway from Dublin to cork at night much? Anytime I do there's always a load of sh!te to avoid, last night there was a fox, a badger, 2 2litre bottles of coke, a splitter and a few other bits of sticks etc. it's like a minefield!
Nothing compares to last summer though, driving back from Belfast to cork and just outside fermoy at 4am I drove over a dead stag at 130kph overtaking a lorry. It had only just been killed as a yaris had pulled over just before where I did, you can imagine the damage!

And finally, whats with the 100kph speed limit on the m50 to and from the airport direction?!

I reckon it might be to do with so many boggers not familiar with the road, no offence to myself or anything.

The Wikipedia page explains the speed limits

    For the lazy among us:
The original speed limit on the M50 was 70 mph (112 km/h) which was increased to 120 km/h when all speed limits in the Republic of Ireland became metric in 2005. The Southern Cross Route (the extension from Junction 12 to Junction 14) was given a lower limit of 60 mph (96 km/h) with a decimal limit of 100 km/h after 2005. This was because of its more undulating terrain, tighter and more frequent curves and resulting shorter sight lines. Because of the doubling of the number of running lanes along most of the route, which has shortened sight lines and increased lane changing, and due of the high number of junctions, the entire length of the route has (with the exception of the sections from Junction 1 to Junction 3 and Junction 14 to 17) the same speed limit, of 100 km/h, since it was completely upgraded (2007–10).

Not just to the airport, the whole motorway. Lots of lanes, idiots and not enough straight sections for a 120kmh limit

basically, Most M50 users haven't got a clue how to use lanes.

As far as i remember there to be less than a certain degree of bend before 120kph speed limit can apply.

Yep do that the the M9 at night regularly, it's a right nightmare, I'm going the opposite direction usually leaving cork about 9pm, rabbits are my personal bugbear.
