    Without having anything to compare size/scale i would hazard a guess at either Pine Marten or if larger Fox. Just a guess.

    They are wanderers and scroungers so it is no biggie for them to stroll along a ditch or river.Nor do they just eat fish....frogs,voles,mice,rats, etc can be prey as well.
