I would prefer if price reductions across the board became the norm without the need to use coupons. :)

That is exactly the view of the supermarkets, If you ask for coupons, they will say 'This week we have 8 million euros worth of half price offers' ( the suppliers pay fr these too).

Absolutley, you should, Straycat. Tesco is a major chain store, not a franchise or independent. Either thay accept coupons or they don't. It's about time they made their mind up. If they don't believe it brings people through their doors then so be it. As a consumer I prefer to know one way or the other, then I can source my goods accordingly instead of being mislead.
I'm getting fed up with hearing about branches that are whingeing about being inconvenienced, while other branches have no problem. Do it or don't. Just make an official policy on it...storewide.
I think you have every reason, as it is you that has been inconvenienced, to push them on it.

Tesco Monaghan refused my Big Al's Coupons as I was told if the coupon doesn't scan than they will not accept it. This is a new rule as the have had people coming in with counterfit coupons.

Oh dear, I hope they don't apply that across the board as I have a cheap printer and use cheap paper  and it's hit and miss as to wether my coupons scan. I have the same problem with Ryanair boarding passes sometimes too.

How do you counterfiet a coupon, other than photocopying which is easy to pick up surely?

    Hi All,
After my last entry, I emailed Tesco as I was fuming with them. Just got this email back from them.

    Dear Lucy

Thank you for your query regarding our Coupon Acceptance Policy.

I understand you have been having problems with our Monaghan store not manually inputting a barcode for a coupon.

Our acceptance policy states that if a coupon has a barcode it has to be scanned to be accepted. However, we do view inputting the barcode manually as exactly the same as scanning it, and as such the store should be attempting this.

The only time we would refuse a coupon with a barcode is if the code was put in to the till and it still wasn't accepted.

I have informed the store of this, and hopefully it won't happen again.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist you.

    Kind regards

    Ann-Marie Bunston

I shopped in Tesco Drogheda today, and had 3 of the Felix Catfood pigsback coupons. The person at the till implied they'd been photocopied (as it happened, one was in colour, the other 2 were in b&w, but all had been selected and printed individually) and was getting ready to reject them.

I pointed out the different voucher numbers, and they were accepted without further ado!
