Has anyone ever heard of this show called Love/Hate? 'Cause I certainly haven't, and it's definitely not what everyone on my FB news feed is talking about.

I'm actually going to have to watch it now to see if it's any good.

Can I ask a really boring exam related question? I know I could find the answer on the forum somewhere but I don't feel like trawling through 12 years worth of posts to find something that fractionally answers my question? K, thanks. :pac:

Ok so i'm doing English this year as part of the Psychology degree and I really don't like it and think i'll fail both Christmas Modules.

I asked a tutor and she told me, even if you fail both Christmas exams, you mighn't have to do repeats if your years average is higher than 40% between your non-compulsory modules.

So basically if you got the following:

    Christmas Exams
    Exam 1- 35%
    Exam 2- 38%

    Summer Exams
    Exam 1- 65%
    Exam 2- 70%

So if these were my results my end of year average for English would be:

    52%..

Does that mean I wouldn't have to sit repeats for my failed Christmas exams? Or is my tutor wrong?

Your tutor explained well how does compensation work.
I will give you an example from my own exams last year:

    French Literature of XX Century
    Semester 1: 70%
    Semester 2: 30%

I passed semester 2 exam by compensation

omg this is the best news ever. So if I actually work on my English in Second Semester I mighn't have repeats. :pac:

I don't think you can pass by compensation if you want to get into second year Psych. As far as I'm aware, you must pass each module individually.

I think that might only be for people trying to get into psych through arts? If you were accepted into the psychology course I think you get an automatic place in second year regardless of repeats etc.

Oh, I figured PF is doing Psych through Arts, as English is involved too!

You have to do 2 arts subjects with psychology in first year even if you're accepted into denominated psych.

So say if I bottled Bio or Chem(them two for example) in the Christmas but done excellent in semester two I could still be fine?

To be honest I've no idea how does it work for science.

In Science, your grade has to average out at at least 40%, with no individual exam paper mark below 25%. You'll also fail the year if you fail continuous assessment.

Is that at the end of the year? Or each one taken separately do you know?

    Passed my CA's :)

At least now I know, if things did go wrong, it ain't the end of the world!
