Yea, payment seems to be the worst part of the whole thing.

No1 can answer that I'm afraid, if you read the related threads here you'll see that some people get acknowledgement of payment after 2 days of making it and others have been waiting anything up to 6 weeks without hearing if they have recived it or not!

Im going to ring the bank tomorrow to make sure its gone through. I just wish they would send a simple email saying hey got the money got the Imm1295 you have x amount of weeks till the visa arrives......oh if only!

Hi there. I sent my application last thursday and they received it on Friday (27th april). Just realised since then that I completed my IMM1295 form by hand (crappy uni computers wouldnt open the file so I got my mum to print it off and then i filled it out by hand and sent it with all the rest of my documents.)

Basically since then i have realised that it had to be validated online which is very annoying. I got access to a computer that it would upload on and completed it with validation.

I sent it to them today with a letter explaining the situation, saying I'd be very grateful if they could attach it to my original application. I also put another photocopy of my passport in as proof of ID and proof of passport number etc.

Please tell me this will be OK and that they won't tell me in 3/4 weeks time that I didn't do it correctly and send the whole thing back out to me again.

    Really seeking reassurance here...HELP.

ALSO..is there any contact number I can actually talk to someone from their end on? or even an efficient email address?

    thanks

I don't think your gonna get any reassurance! People get failed applications for the smallest of reasons.

I don't mean to be bad but I'd be about 99% sure they won't take the time to link your email to your application. There just far to busy!
And especially because you don't have a WTN number yet they've no concrete way of identifying you!

I understand the first thing they do is scan your barcode pages. If there not there the person with the scanner isn't gonna go hmmmm. I wonder if we have an email in our full inbox I could find relating to this incomplete application....

It's harsh but I think your gonna be relying on a miracle!

Yh i agree your better off getting a new app ready, tell the gardai your cert got lost in the post and reapplying straight away. Your current app will defo be returned but it may be while so no point waiting on the cert.

Hi! thanks for the reply. I got an email of receipt this morning with my WTN on it. What do you think this means? Do you think it will be sent back still? If it is do you think I'll have time to resend it and still be successful? this is so demoralising..I hate my uni computers for not just uploading the document originally!!!

let me know what receiving the WTN and email of receipt means please! thanks

It means that your application package is now in The pile, and your in there system. It's an encouraging sign.

The IEC have probilly just scanned the barcode relating to them which is the first form you fill out which should have been at the top of your pack. They will then check your pack out to make sure you qualify. If you do they ask for payment and forward you to the CIC. They are the people who decide weather you can get into Canada.

So basically, you have to hope you get lucky, when they look through your pack and realize the barcode page for the unvalidated form is not there then they will either know about your email...
Or pop the whole lot in an envelope and return to sender for being incomplete.

Still no confirmation of payment received but I rang AIB and the payment is sitting in the embassy's account with my WTN on it so there shouldnt be any problems!

I was pricing flights and here's a quick question do I have to have a return flight booked or can i fly one way and then when it come close to the time to go home book a one way home?

Luftansa are comming in cheapest for a return ticket with a direct flight from dub to toronto

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭DaveDaRave1

You can book 1 way under the condition that you have the money for the return leg in your account on top of the $2500 you need to enter.

So if you want to book 1 way you'll need to have ~$3500 in your account.

Hey! I feel reading through this forum my nerves have been settled slightly.

I fly to Vancouver on 19th may but only got a one way ticket (so cheap in comparison using air transat) I don't have the visa yet- I got my conditional acceptance 26th April and haven't had receipt of payment and the deadline was yesterday!
Anyway because it's a one way flight and will be entering as a tourist does anyone know if I have a bus ticket into the states whether that will be sufficient enough to prove ill be leaving the country within the 6months or do I ideally need to get a flight?

    My timeline so far:
    Application #1
    Sent 25/01
    Notice of receipt 21/02
Unsure of date but application refused as I missed 1 signature- so I got that back and reapplied/resent it and just signed over where they highlighted.
    Application #2
    Notice of receipt 16/04
    Conditional acceptance & paid 26/04

Now back to the waiting game!

The authorities dealing with the Working Holiday Visas in the London embassy are the most incompetent buffoons I have ever, and I mean ever, had the misfortune to encounter.

Last year the entire process was based in the embassy in Paris, and worked like a dream - I applied in mid-February 2011 and had my first WHV by mid-March. This year, with the shift to London, it has been nothing short of a nightmare. My first visa (which they apparently received nearly two months after I sent it!) was "rejected" because of this absurd residency rule (I hadn't made it sufficiently clear, apparently, that I had been resident in Ireland for a sufficient period of time - though if I just lied and said I'd lived in Ireland for three years beforehand, they would have been none the wiser. Ah, the misfortune of trying to tell the truth.) In any case, no tears shed, that happens. On the second time applying however, I was informed, again, nearly two months after their receiving the documents, that "our scanners can't scan one of the barcodes so your application was rejected." Thanks to a rude, two line e-mail, I have been told that I must now apply again if I want to get a new WHV. No appeal process, little clarification, and zero help offered whatsoever. Frankly, I am heartily sick and tired of their utter stupidity, lack of communication and ingrained laziness. The experience with the guys in Paris last year was totally different. Perhaps they send the service dunces to deal with the Irish WHVs? Who knows. What is for sure is that the words "customer service" have never entered passed between these guys' ears.

Though that's not even the worst. On the bloody French version of the site there are words spelled wrong and direct calques from English, and this in an apparently bilingual civil service! You couldn't make it up. One would have expected better from Canadians, frankly. As bad as things can be with the Irish civil service, I can't imagine such a level of utter incompetency and rudeness ever being the rule, rather than the exception.

Hi all - has anyone booked flights to Canada through anywhere other than usit? They seem pretty extortionate. Airtransat seems cheaper...any thoughts?

Depends when your flying. Cheapest I could see was aerlingus. The olympics have certainly made the price of flights around the uk alot more expensive over the coming months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭DaveDaRave1

Yea, Cheepest from Dublin to VA is aerlingus.

we got flights for 600return flying dublin to vancouver, returning vegas to london. Friend got flights from London heathrow to vancouver for 230quid. they were as low as 199 on some dates. alot cheaper to go that way and get a cheap flight to london. airtransat i think he went with

I was wondering if somebody could give me a wee bit of advice.

I'm from the UK and my IEC application went in to the last stage 3 weeks ago and the letter advises that it can take up to 6 weeks before I receive my letter of invitation.

BUT, I leave in less than a week...

So I know I can enter Canada on a tourist visa and will just wait for the email with my letter of acceptance.

How is it that I activate it from Canada though? Do I need to leave the country and come back in through customs? Or someone thought that I could just go to my nearest airport.

Any help would be much appreciated, totally stressing out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭JonSnuuu

You'll have to leave the country, but it doesnt mean you have to fly back to the UK or anything, driving into the US and turning back around will suffice! I suppose it depends on what part of canada your going to, the US border is very close to Toronto or Vancouver if you're heading out that direction! Don't worry you'll be fine!

Still nothing. Does anyone who has crossed the border without the visa do you just say your waiting for WHC IEC visa or just say your visiting?

hi sent my visa package off and recived my message of reciept on the 25th of april and have not heard anything since has any one else had this problem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭JonSnuuu

This wouldn't really class as a problem tbh. They say that you should recieve the request of payment around 2 weeks after your notice of receipt. The High Commission this year however has been notorious for not sticking to their own deadlines. Most people didn't recieve their payment requests to closer to 3 or 4 weeks rather than the 2 weeks specified. I wouldn't worry just yet.

Theres not a lot you can do really, you can't resubmit a single document the only thing you could do is reapply but after you have heard. You may get the visa anyway
