Out by wilton in cork at the moment. Regular flashes of lightning and thunder. Having my bedroom in the attic it also sounds like somebody is throwing rocks off the velux window.

I wonder if places like fermoy and other flood spots are been affected. There's been a lot of rain in the past few hours.

I'm up by the UCC, this is just unreal!! Pelting rain, massive flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder, can't remember ever seeing a storm like this.

Apparently, there's reports that the City Center is beginning to flood :(

All meteorology websites let us down on this. Only the metoffice had a warning out for thursday earlier in the week but mentioned nothing for this evening and there was severe flooding in parts of Ulster

In ballincollig. Had 2 consecutive flash/bangs with very little time apart. Sounded like it was outside the window. Never heard thunder as loud or as clear all my life in cork 30 yrs.

Some EPIC 20 minutes of action there over the northside of the city :D, will have some cameraphone video shortly, some cracking flashes and rumbles and the odd bit of excitment from myself :p

It seems to have petered out somewhat now, anyone confirm what its like on the ground in regards possible flooding?

EDIT: Seems to be a lot of strikes showing up off the west coast now.

Thunder and lightning seems to have stopped now but it's still lashing. Was on to some people that live by the Lee and they said the river is close to bursting its banks. 96fm have pictures up on their Facebook showing flooding
