Clear Examples of Goodies Vs Baddies

I saw the recent "Kony" video on youtube that went viral.

    Perhaps it oversimplified things.

Clearly this guy is a "baddie" but maybe his oponents aren't exactly "goodies."

    Then it got me thinking.

How many wars can you think of where there are clear examples of Goodies vs Baddies?

I'll start - WW2 - Nazis and Japanese (Baddies) vs Allies (Goodies)

Next - 1916 rebellion - Republicans (Goodies) vs British (Baddies)

    Give me some more.:pac:

None. On all sides it's always an elite sending young men out to be killed for their own gain, while they sit at home drinking brandy, and their sons get posted to the national guard administrative division.

Nobody comes out clean from a war.

1916 would be one of those events where it depends on where you're coming from as to who were the goodies and baddies.
And while obviously the nazis were baddies, one of the allies, the soviets, certainly weren't goodies.

    The Rebel Alliance: goodies

    The Empire: baddies.

although when you think about it, the Empire provided thousands of jobs in the construction industry building the death star, and then it literally went boom, theres a recession allegory in there somewhere.

It's not obvious at all to me that the Nazis or the Soviets were baddies by comparison with the Brits, say, who were running a system of concentration camps in Kenya in the late 50s and early 60s, whose record of respecting human rights, self-determination and not murdering innocent civilians in cold blood is patchy, at best.

It's all relative, granted, but none of them are clean.

I think WWII would be like 1916: depends who you are and what you're fighting against. None of the allies could really be called 'goodies'. But then I can't really think of any war where anybody could be called 'goodies'. I'm sure I'm forgetting one. Finland v USSR?

Finland and England were later at war since the Finns were allied with the Germans against the Russians.

Note Helsinki and Moscow were the only capitals of the combatants on the continent that weren't overrun by the enemy.

No goodies really. It was just a degree of baddies. For the UK look at Bomber Harris, or the treatment of the Cossacks. Or what happened to the French fleet. Or the fighting in French overseas colonies.

No fishing here. If you disagree thats fine, but don't think that because someone does not share the same views as you it is their intention to be antagonistic.

I'll agree that at times the Israelis act in an unacceptable manner. However, in the context of the Yom Kippur War, in which Israel was attacked by bordering nations 400 times its size, I don't think it can be argued that their extremely effective, heroic military counter operations were anything but justified.

Similarly, I'll put forward the Falklands War. Not only was the Argentine invasion a disgrace, but the Argentine occupation was a total disgrace too. Their attitudes and their conduct did very little to convince the Falklanders that they were better off being governed by Buenos Aires. And that is putting it very, very mildly.
