Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Detailed firearms cleaning, maintenance and operating instructions in App Store

There are 5 downloads available from Apple's App store that offer all of the above as animations allowing user-interaction and timing of maintenance and other activities, assisted by detailed exploded views to the component-level.

The fire-arms I have seen are auto and semi-auto hand-guns (Glock 9, Colt 1911, etc) and my personal concerns are as follows:
    • At a time when the world is riven with armed confrontations of all kinds is it appropriate to be teaching would-be freedom fighters, hoodlums, gangsters to use lethal weapons?
    • Even if these offerings are acceptable in the US, should we by default have them offered here, remembering that Apple has no problem tailoring product offerings in their stores to local markets?
    • Some people have voiced the opinion that the US shot its own citizens in the back by allowing the 911 pilots to train there. How would those same people feel do you think about allowing this kind of detailed information into the hands of potential terrorists?
    Any thoughts?

That information is available through so many mediums; books/magazines/online articles etc. I hardly think a new app is going to flip the kill switch inside someone's head. It can hardly be considered teaching as you would have to have a working knowledge of the firearm to properly utilise any article/book/app on how to strip/clean/maintain a firearm.

I very much doubt criminals or terrorists are worried about how to clean the extractor on a glock for example. You have nothing to worry about.

The points you raise may very well be valid, but have no place for discussion in this shooting forum. At least not in the context you wish to debate.

Perhaps another forum may be best suited. If you wish to discuss my closure further feel free to PM.
