You know if the line-up is going to be poor by how active the official LLS twitter is.

    No tweets = poor line-up

I think once RTE hits the big ratings for the toy show, eurosong farce, and the special late late shows, that they actually don't give a fiddlers about the other shows which still come in higher than average.....Job done as far as they are concerned....people need to stop watching

The GN production team really do stick to the proven formula don't they? - Actor with movie to plug, good value veteran celeb/personality, home grown comic and groovy music act. Sorted!

The LLS also has Niall Quinn and music from Wallis Bird and Big Country ....

But TG4 has The Magnificent Seven at 10.20pm :):):)

I can make a decent stab at the conversation already

Big Jack broken hip and wishing him all the best
So your moving back fulltime to Ireland Niall?
Prediction on Ireland chances in Euro 12.
Tubs mentions Niall wife, camera moves to audience to see her smile.

Maybe Tubs might surprise me and talk about depression in sport and the growing debt burden in english soccer.

    Buchholz and Wallach.

Regardless, just the music is enough to make me watch it AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN..

I'd say the ratings for Homeland on RTE2 will hit an all time high tonight!

    Confirmed so far:-

    Layla Flaherty from 'Desperate Scousewives'
Scott Graham, 13-year-old star of the Oscar-nominated short film 'Pentecost'.

I was wondering why everyone was saying it was a sh*tty line-up when they managed to snag someone from Desperate Housewives, even though I admittedly had never heard of her.

Then I googled this 'Layla Flaherty'...

    layla-flaherty-01111201.jpg

That's when I realised my mistake...

Tuco Eli Wallach Calvero is still alive. Still popping in in films too, despite being in his late 90's.

Yeah, just didn't want people to think you were giving away the end.

Wallis Bird is class, might brave watching it to see her singing.

Seems some confusion here, I was referring to the 7 actors that make up the Magnificent 7.

    Yul Brynner(Died 1985)
    Steve McQueen(Died 1980)
    James Coburn(Died 2002)
    Horst Buchholz(Died 2003)
    Brad Dexter(Died 2002)
    Charles Bronson(Died 2003)
    Robert Vaughan(living)

Heard an ad for big country on the radio, you would think they would play a live clip featuring the new singer rather than advertise the gig with the dead singer...

Ah, Hopefully I have just confused people rather than revealed anything!

I have flicked in to the late late a handful of times over the past year,it's incredible it still gets an audience even.
It's more out of how bad can it get this week that I would ever turn it on.
We watch Graham norton weekly and he gets such a laugh out of the guests, the show is fun,top class guests and it's enjoyable.
Late late has had it's day a decade ago

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,433 ✭✭✭✭Ash.J.Williams

The first thing that is wrong with the lls is the fact the presenter looks abolutely knackered!! How can he interview people when he's clearly not in the mood!!!

Is this thread not getting a bit boring now? Criticizing the audience week
in week out..same old jokes as raiding the canteen, this is boring, falling asleep. When will the audience be good enough?

No, but thank you for your input.

Your opinion is highly valued by us, and we will keep your comment on file in case we have a lack of 'If you don't like it, why do you watch it?' posts.

Aren't you bored reading this thread every week? You seem to know what is said, so you obviously spend plenty of your spare time trawling through it, fuming away at people having bit of a laugh. Good luck with that.

Lets just analyse your post ...

You want the title changed to 'criticism of the late late show' . Snappy. Presumably there would be also be a 'Friday Night Love for Tubs' thread for people like yourself

'Then i woudnt revisit it' - what, do you come along every week thinking just once it's going to be a happy happy sunshine shake of positivity?

Had a quick look at the lineup and went to the off license to improve the quality of the show significantly..

Its not all criticism actually. If something genuinely good or entertaining happens on the show, people on here are very quick to point it out in all fairness.

The fact that this happens so rarely nowadays is a reflection on the quality of the LLS and its host, not on the people who post here.

He's usually spends his Friday nights in the grassly knoll outside RTE studios, ostensibly waiting for an autograph from Ryan Tubridy..

Sounds like Anne Gildea will be on. She is a Comedian who has a show next week about her struggle with Cancer.

While I'd disagree with risteard7 regarding the collective running commentary on the Late Late, I think certain posters engaged in a grubby pursuit of the host - where valid criticism had been kicked to touch in favour of some obsessive vendetta.

In response to risteard7's post, criticism (good or bad) is to be expected in such a high-profile job. I always find this thread highly amusing for what people have posted.

It's a different thread every week, this thread might be boring but we cannot say until after the show has ended.

The audience are irrelevant but have the potential to improve, DLB will not get any better.

    Stay tuned.

I don't follow you, am, to be honest.

All I know is he hasn't posted here in ages, and he wants everyone to know it.

And the last time he was here doesn't count, for some reason.
