Anybody know of anyone firearm dealer in Ireland selling the above parts. Im taking delivery of a Remington 597 shortly and want to replace the original hammer and extractor with volquartsen parts (which greatly improve the cycle). They are readily available online in the US but i cant find any retailer that will post to Ireland. Ill also be looking for the newer type metal magazines. Thanks in advance :)

I have nothing to add really other than a warning of sorts.

Be very careful when ordering parts online. Any componant part of a firearm requires import papers. If caught shipping certain items in without the necessary paperwork you could e looking at a hefty fine and/or charges.

Now i know i'll get a load of posts about lads bringing item X, Y, and Z without paperwork. Thats great for them, but it will not always be the case and do you really have the time, and more importantly the money to be the "test case"?

Just know where you stand before trying to order anything is all i'm saying.

I bought both these items for my 597 from this site a while back, no problems, I also got some spare mags as well.

Thanks roosman. I was on that site yesterday but was put off by the large red banner on the homepage saying "We only accept orders that are to be shipped within the USA. " When did you buy off them? Did you email them before you ordered to clarify that they will ship to ireland?

I just put the hammer on my Rem 597 and it helped the trigger pull, I prob have some good instructions from the web around somewhere if you need. Below is a link to VQ site and their distributers. Scroll down and they list a "Viking Arms" in the UK. Perhaps a call to VQ themselves or this UK dealer might lead you to someone who sells the parts in Ire. Click on Viking Arms, you go to the web site. Then click on Shooting Sports. Then Find a Dealer at top, then type in Ireland and/or your postal code. I typed in Ireland and found 3 supposed dealers. Whether this gets your parts or not, who knows could be goose chase, but I hope it helps.

Also I found on Remington page this guy is listed as an authorized dealer.

Cool link, Valmont looks like a pretty good outfit, lots of stuff there. Here is a link with pics and discussion of the VQ hammer install that I found helpful just in case anyone can use it.
