I've seen him make saves this season yes. But there obviously not at as high a standard as the Premiership because if they were they'd be playing Premiership football. He hasn't seemed to have as many brain farts this season I'll give him that. Maybe it's because he is kept busier but his concentration can be woeful at times.
So you're actually saying that a world class save from a shot by, say, Ricky Lambert is somehow less impressive than if the same shot was by Rooney? That makes no sense.
And the reason he's playing Championship football is because we're willing to pay him Premiership wages for the year (along with several other players) to try and get promoted. If we fail to get promoted this season, he will certainly leave for the Premiership (he'll quite possibly leave even if we do get promoted).

You clearly don't understand what makes a good goalkeeper if this is your interpretation of what he said.

If you are able to shut out the likes of Rooney, Aguero, Van Persie on a regular basis then it is a no brainer that it looks more impressive than shutting out Ricky Lambert and Ross McCormack.

Not that Robert Green is a bad keeper, either.

Re Green-All goalkeepers are good shot stoppers, making save after save isn't what makes a world class keeper. It's a hard position to measure, but imo a best keeper in a league can never be a teams keeper who has 20 shots against him a match and saves 15 and lets in 5, most keepers will save most shots, it's the keepers who have nothing to do for long periods but then when there is something happening will deal with most of the time. When a keeper has any question marks then he really isn't anything to write home about. Green is an example, he is just liable to make a mistake. He's gone through loads of bad patches in his career which is a sign of his failings as a keeper, no matter how many saves he made against Southampton the other day.

International Football is a real measure of a keeper, where there is long periods without any action, for long Shay Given was world class(he was the perfect goalkeeper for Int.Football) but now you kinda wouldn't be suprised if he made an error these days, so he definetly is no longer at that level.

Add in command of his area, command of his defence, distribution and concentration and you're not too far off the mark there.

Robert Green - West Ham fans love him, the majority of others think he's vastly overrated.

Personally I don't think he'd be anywhere near an England squad if it wasn't for who he plays his club football for.

    He's woeful.

Well I'd rather follow Celtic then a team like Shels whose fans have been known to sing "The Famine Song" on occassion.

I often wonder where they would have been
If we hadn't have taken them in
    Fed them and washed them
    Thousands in Glasgow alone
    From Ireland they came
Brought us nothing but trouble and shame
    Well the famine is over
    Why don't they go home?

Now Athenry Mike was a thief
And Large John he was fully briefed
And that wee traitor from Castlemilk
Turned his back on his own
They've all their Papists in Rome
    They have U2 and Bono
    Well the famine is over
    Why don't they go home?

Now they raped and fondled their kids
That's what those perverts from the darkside did
And they swept it under the carpet
    and Large John he hid
Their evils seeds have been sown
Cause they're not of our own
    Well the famine is over
    Why don't you go home?

Now Timmy don't take it from me
Cause if you know your history
    You've persecuted thousands of people
    In Ireland alone
    You turned on the lights
    Fuelled U boats by night
    That's how you repay us
    It's time to go home.
    not worth it.

He said "I've seen him make saves this season yes. But there obviously not at as high a standard as the Premiership". Not much to interpret in my view. Personally a great save is a great save no matter where the keeper is playing.

Fair enough, but this also says a lot about the defence you have in front of you. For example, would VDS have had his record number of clean sheets a few seasons back if he had the defence they have now in front of him? Not likely.

That is complete and utter rubbish to be fair. I'd love to see where you came to this conclusion (that he's woeful and that he only gets in the England squad because he plays for West Ham). He certainly has his faults (coming for crosses being the main one) but to say he's woeful shows alarming ignorance.
