didnt even know channel 5 started shown boxing, should be a good enough fight. Rogan always comes to fight

They've had a deal with Fury for a good few fights now.

Fury sounds and looks like the opposite of the traveler I've seen in previous interviews?!

Yeah there's been a few now. They turned out to be much more exciting than they should've been as well. They also showed Kid Galahad v Jason Booth on the weekend.

I fancy Fury to stop Rogan late but if Rogan can jump all over Fury early doors then he has a good chance.

I like Fury. Always comes to fight. Is a good fighter too. Suspect chin I reckon, but he give it his all. Shoul be too good for Rogan.

Agreed his fights are great to watch, he should beat Rogan but he will be stopped soon enough I reckon. Sensible move to avoid Price.

Fury will be stopped soon enough, should get past Rogan but he is no more then a decent fighter imo, nothing special about him (except maybe his heart)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,447 ✭✭✭barney4001

The obvious for Fury would have been to defend british or european title against Price, but he hits to hard for Fury to handle i reckon, so he gives up the title

I don't really rate Tyson Fury, wasn't impressed with his victory against Neven Pajkic in Nov, Rogan is getting on a lot now though so I think the first three/four rounds will be entertaining but than Rogan will tire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭gene_tunney

Tyson Fury is a terrible, terrible heavyweight and will get sparked soon. If Rogan was a few years younger he might do the job.

He is entertaining though, because he brawls and doesn't have even the semblance of any defensive capability.

He is very entertaining outside of the ring and always has a go inside the ring aswell in fairness to him.

Won't be one for the purist though...Technical ability will go out the window here id say!

remind me of even the point in this fight talking place???..why fight rogan..its fs ****ing price he should be fighting!...fury goin backwards!..hope rogan makes it difficult!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 759 ✭✭✭tryingmybestt

agree totally he should fight price

politics could be playing a part but if not price then an active fighter at a decent level, not an inactive old Rogan

I don't rate fury and I feel he would get found out at european level and beyond

Rogan is backwards from Firtha and Pajkic?? Really?

To answer your questions, it's taking place because Channel 5 have a date, Hennessy needs to fill it, Fury wants to crack the Irish market. Why Rogan? Because he is a funny ****, the Channel 5 viewers will lap him up and because he sell a bucket load of tickets and is a name.

Not to mention it will be a fickin tear up whilst it lasts.

You'd think people would be happy there are shows in Ireland!!

^^ i never said rogan was below them fighters.. surely tyson can go one better than rogan at this point no?..i mean no disrepect to rogan but its not a fight goin forward imo!..fury gave up he's belts to pursue a world title..so fighting rogan is goin to help him accomplish this??...somehow this might just as well come back to bite him in the future..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 684 ✭✭✭slapbangwallop

You said he was going backwards so yeah I guess you did say he wasn't as good as those previous opponents.

I think it will be a good match up with plenty of entertainment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭ioc

^^ okay i admit its a side step then :P..but in all fairness i wish fury the best but i do feel there is much better challenger's out there on route to a world tittle ;)

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭DB10

What challengers are much better though?

Lets be honest Chisora just got a world title shot losing 2 fights in a row including to Tyson.

Fury is right really, he should bide his time, maybe take on someone like Povetkin, Price or Adamek and he could get a title shot then.

Time is on his side. This is the way boxing is now sadly, the best fights never usually happen because people are ducking each other to get ahead.

The lad is only 23, which is still pubescent for a Heavyweight. I wouldnt be in any rush to throw him in at the top level. Especially given his last two performances.

Like I've said Fury v Rogan is a cracking fight.

IMO he should step up sooner. He beat Chisora yet Chisora was able to push Vitali Klitschko.

Imagine all the Irish Travellers over in Hamburg :D

yeah then you would really see a riot if fury got a wrong call

Oisin Fagan v Kevin O'Hara added to the bill

Chisora was on a diet of kebabs and pints from the looks of that fight. Ridiculously overweight.

Well I suppose considering Chisora went on to fight Helenius and get a title fight in his next two fights... then it kind of looks like Fury isn't going forward.

Rogan a few years ago would have been a very competitive fight, not sure about now.

Still it should be a war.

Fury didn't avoid Price. Both camps have said that Price turned down £100K for the fight. I believe it came down to Fury having a deal with Channel 5 and Price possibly with Sky. Fury then had to vacate the titles to get a fight.

He's fighting Rogan because it's short notice, he needs to be busy and he's publicly spoken in the past about being unable to get people into the ring with him. Also Rogan has been looking for this fight since Fury beat doughboy Chisora and I, for one, am looking forward to it.

Don't forget that Vitali injured his shoulder in the early rounds so he was unable to use his jab as much as usual. That meant Doughboy was able to keep advancing without the threat of the jab.

That said I thought he did well and kept Vitali on the back foot but just didn't throw enough punches or land enough that he threw to win rounds. I had him winning one round, 2 at a push.

I see this fight is now for the Irish heavyweight title, the last holder i can recall was Kevin McBride, who later went to USA 1990 s maybe ,did he ever defend or lose it

The last holder was Coleman Barrett who beat Colin Kenna for the vacant title. Kenna dropped Barrett early in the fight (the 2nd I think) and Barrett was made to work, but won quite a wide decision in the end. Barrett has been very inactive the last while, you have to question whether he's in a sort of temporary or even permanent unnanounced retirement.

McBride beat his old Olympic teamate Paul Douglas for the title, he never did defend or lose the belt.

I don't rate fury, he's too slow and would be too easy to hit for the big top boxers such as the bro's-I think Rogan will trouble him to be honest

This is a crackin card. Defo get Your moneys worth for this one, which can't be said for every bill.

I see box rec have published their heavyweight ratings and Fury is not listed at all but Chisora is listed 5 and 7 in different versions of the titles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭gene_tunney

^ Chisora is twice the fighter Fury is.

Its funny, Fury is useless and Rogan is an almost-41 year old journeyman, but I still can't wait. Should be a great scrap! Hope Rogan is in good shape.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Frankie Lee

I will wait to see what shape Fury is in but 4/7 for him to win by ko looks like a terrific bet to me. Obviously a bit of risk with his chin but he should be comfortably better than Rogan. I can't see the fight going the distance anyways.

I agree with you but Fury beat Chisora and he got a crack st clits title

It's funny how many people say Tyson's no good. There are at least 17 professional boxers who failed to prove them right, including Chisora.

Really looking forward to this. I expect Fury to win but wouldn't put the house on it.

Rogie looking in good nick. I wonder has Fury improved his conditioning.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 124 ✭✭Tom Cruise

I think Rogan will win.Watching Furey throw a jab then get knocked down by a right hook coz he is too lazy to bring his hand up to his own chin afterwards makes me think Rogan may do him.Heavyweight boxing is rubbish nowadays i prefer the welterweights

That price is gone now, I might just take a watching brief. I still think Fury will do it fairly easily.
