Right now, none of the rifle and pistol shooters competing in Finland to go to the Olympics are funded (not one penny) - but those of you buying a Wispa in the next few days *are* funding their competitors...

    Doh :(

(and yeah, those are the bars for the Irish market apparently...)

    Dammit.

Why couldn't they put it on a Dime bar? No-one buys those things.

It's a good way to fund a sport, but not from an Irish perspective. Excuse my naivety, but are Cadbury not Irish?

    Explains the GB funding/sponsorship so.

I would like to say could we get such a deal here, but with attitudes towards gun ownership which company would be "seen" to support a shooting team?

Cadbury's were actually controversially taken over a year or two back by an american firm , we all know the americans attitude to firearms ownership :D.

Get a gun WITH the Wispa.:D:D

Seriously though could you imagine the looks you'd get if you approached a company and asked them to sponsor a shooting team, even if it was a National Team. The minut the word gun enters the conversation they would not be able to find the door quick enough.

Depends on who you approach and how, I think - I know some shooters have gotten some small amounts of sponsorship over the years (ISSF rules even allow for it, though they specify exactly what you can stick on your kit and where).

There was a point made before with a previous sports sponsorship by cadbury's, namely its a bit rich when kids are less active then ever and obesity is rampant , diabetes likewise , that a chocolate manufacturer is sponsoring sports.

    American, I think.

Edit - Sorry, just seen Rowa's already pointed this out.
