Only in the same way that the Lesbian & Gay forum discriminates against straight people, ie. not at all.

So apparently gay people should be segregated to be LGBTQ forum, right? (by the way, the 'Q' means questioning - they welcome contribution from straight people). Highly shortsighted of the OP, methinks.

    Seriously, yes. Why didn't you include a "I'm a guy, and I'd prefer ....

Damn it!! I've been downgraded a few points on my IQ score.

Did you have any say in this at all, or did you just show up at the appointed time?

She promised me a good party afterwards, with lots of drink, so, naturally, I went along with it!

She was good to her word too!

Either person proposing is fine, its just a tradition, there are plenty we don't uphold anyway.

Its better for a person to ask than trying to drop hints, my god if you have to remind your partner that they want to propose to you there is something wrong. It's fine to drop hints for a present but not a marriage proposal.

Its good to get a feeling of your partners view on marriage in general but certainly not during the honeymoon period.

Nothing wrong with a girl proposing, we don't to sit and wait, if the answer is no I'd rather know where I stand.

I'm not crazy about mariage anyway so I might be commenting in an extremely hypothetical way,

I find engagement ring tradition really bizarre though - for the duration of the engagement the girl publicises the fac she is 'promised' but he doesn't?! WTF is that about - him keeping his opions open till sh gets him up the aisle and seals the deal? I think the polish have a tradition where they both wear rings on their right hands then transfer to left, sounds better. Or no rings, just a genuine commitment.

    Says who?

My point was that it entirely reasonable to ask a question to straight people which excludes gay people without it being an act of discrimination.

It is also entirely reasonable for a question to be posed to just gay or lesbian people without it being misconstrued as being discriminatory towards straight people.

As soon as people like you start shouting about 'discrimination' and 'segregation' for absolutely no reason at all & for completely unfounded and pointless reasons, it really pisses me off. You're trying to create a problem where there simply isn't one at all.

Short sighted of pacifist pigeon me thinks, how can you tell the difference between two guys/girls in this situation when the whole survey is the opinion of one sex's actions over another??

    I don't understand your question.

Three out of the five options are applicable to LGBT. The other two are based on going against the usual tradition. I'm just confused as to what he expects the OP to add to the survey to satisfy the faux outrage

I'm a guy and I would prefer to propose
I'm a guy and I'm open to her proposing
I'm a girl, and I would prefer for him to propose

I'm a girl, and I'm open to proposing
    Marriage is for chumps!

Now you're discriminating against transgender people and those who are gender-queer.

If there's BJs steak and beer involved I'll pretty much say yes to anything.
Blow me and I'll give you a steak and a beer.
    Where's my ring?
    This milk ain't free.
    *sigh*

    This better be some BJ.

    *bends over*

    Jesus...seriously cringeworthy.
