I am currently trying to lose weight. I am newly single and let myself go (as one does) while i was going out with my boyfriend. We are pizzas, nibbled on junk watching films etc etc. I was always quite slim but over the years with him i went from an 8 to a 10/12.

I have no idea about healthy eating as I always ate what i wanted which usually consisted of carbs carbs carbs! Cheese and more cheese! And anything fried.

Could anyone tell me if this is too little to be eating? I would love to eat more healthy foods but i really cant think of what to eat because im really picky.

I have a bowl of ready brek with milk in the morning. Then a slice of brown bread with tuna for lunch, then an oven baked breaded chicken breast for dinner with some carrots. And loads of water all day. Sometimes i might have a half a bowl of stew (just the meat and carrots, no sauce or potatoes). Sometimes id have a banana instead of the brown bread and tuna.

Ive been eating like that for the past week and a half and ive been excersing for 15 mins every night before i go to bed but i havent noticed a difference. I weigh the exact same?????

    What am i doing wrong?

Ps: I want to have a treat tomorrow by having a breaded chicken wrap with lettuce, cheese and tomato relish. How bad is that lunch? If i just had that for the whole day would that be ok?

Your diet is awful, where are the veg 'some carrots' is not enough. Read the stickies at the top of the page, stop being picky try new foods and don't decide you don't like it before you even taste it (I've watched picky eaters eat, it's mostly in their heads). Stop eating breaded chicken, on the ingredient list I'd say it has more chemicals than actual food.

As for the last bit in bold that's just a stupid idea. Very few people would be just able to eat just that, you might find yourself ordering takeaway tonight. I also know someone who really just eats one small meal a day(sometimes 2 if she's working) it's all really just carbs and not real food, she was still gaining weight.

It's not just how much you eat it's what you eat, read threads here gain knowledge, probably learn to cook (sticking breaded chicken in the oven is not cooking) and sort out your diet.

I agree with Orla. You need to get your diet in check first.

You should try do a bit more than 15mins before bed. You probably aren't burning many caloires doing this.

How about starting Couch to 5k?

    A 5k run 3 times a week.

I was told by an acupuncturist that a day should go like this.

Eat like a King in the morning, Prince in the afternoon and Pauper in the evening.

As the day is going on you don't need that much energy (ie food\fuel) in the evening so therefore eat less.

Also try to substitute fruit for chocolate bars\snacks (or just wean yourself off it slowly with some 90% lindt!).

Try to cut down on dairy and increase veg portions (green veg and "super foods" like spinach).

As was said earlier make sure the chicken isn't breaded and is a fillet you bought either in tescos or at a butchers. Wrap it in tin foil and bung it in the oven for 30 - 35 mins.

I'd also suggest replacing special k with porridge. Cereals have a high sugar content and all these "reduced fat and sugars and made from natural ingredients" fads that our eyes are attracted to is plain BS.

Porridge with a bit of water (or milk) and blueberries\strawberries\nuts (brazil). Nom.

Im actually a really good cook. I just dont know what to cook that would result in me losing weight. Thats kinda what i meant in my post. Do you think readybrek (which is porridge) is ok for the morning? What lunch would you suggest i have instead of brown bread and tuna?

Why don't you take a look in the old (closed) Food Diary threads for some ideas of what/how much you should be eating. Some of the guys and gals who used to post there achieved great results and you could probably learn a lot from them :)

Eggs would be better for breakfast.

Not sure what the nutritional difference between Ready Brek and regular porridge is.

Soup & a salad for lunch?

Best thing to do is have a read of the thread nutrition 101 thread, from there change what your eating now to things that are better choices, you might be thinking now wtf is a better choice, learn a bit about nutrition(nutrition 101) and you'll have an idea(might still be confused but you'll have a better idea than now)

The best thing for you to cook is real food, nothing from packets or jars and nothing that has preservatives and loads of sugar.
    Eat things like
    Vegetables (not so much starches)
    Fish
    Meat
    fruit
    nuts/seeds
oils (I use coconut and olive)
things like real butter/cream/cheese are fine as long as you are getting it in more natural states and not eating cheese flavoured slices or flora.

I'm not really too sure about readybrek, depends on the ingredients, if it's just oats grand but if it's sugar in it then no not good. Although another thing to remember here is how much you put in your bowl, you could be pouring out double or triple the portion stated on the box, it's easily done.

Eat when your hungry and while eating pay attention to your body when you start feeling full stop eating.

Also have a look at the stickies in the health and fitness part.

There's endless variety of things you can cook that are far more healthy than breaded chicken breasts. When it comes to losing weight your first consideration is calories in v calories out. Once you know how many calories you need to consume to maintain your current weight, subtract no more than 500kcals from that and you have your new goal. Once you know how many kcals to eat things get an awful lot simpler.

Have a read of this, plenty of info on healthy eating:

and this, more on eating right and excercise.

Log your daily food intake in fitday.com . It's a simple way to track your kcals.
