    hi all,

just have a question for ye,

my uncle has a double barrel and he has givin me permission to use his gun. now i have gottin the cert for handling firearms.
my question is, he has the licence to the firearm, am i legally allowed to use this gun now out on my own that i have the cert got or do i have to co-licence the gun with him to use it? i have used the gun plenty of times(also shot rabbit and pheasant:D) with him with me and i feel ready to out on my own.

i just want to make sure im doing it legally:)

    thanks!

You'll need your own licence for the shotgun (there isn't really a co-licence sort of thing in Ireland). So both of you will then have a licence for the same shotgun (this is perfectly fine and normal under the law).

Depending n your area you may not be waiting too long. just get your FCA1 form, 2 passport photos, 2 permission letters(your uncle may be able to help with these from the farmers lands he shoots on or if its his land) and your cert to say your able to handle a gun and send it into your local station with all the boxes ticked and relivent info filled in asap.

Best of luck and welcome to the forum

Just to close the circle a letter from your uncle saying he has no problem with you licensing his firearm.

As a side note. If you are licensing your uncle's firearm look closely at section 4.1. You put in the details of his license, and this in itself may reduce the waiting time as even though you'll have your own license the firearm has already been approved.
