Well the update decided to delete my account. Can't log into battlelog or EA or Origin.

    Says no such account exists.

Been onto EA support, and they say no account for either Dublin_Gunner or DublinGunner exists.

I have linked them to my stats on Battlelog and on Bf3stats.com.

Fooking numpties. I've had an EA account under those names / persona's since probably Medal of Honour : Allied Assault.

Just had another reply from them:
    Dear Lee,

Thank you for writing back to us.

I searched with the information and found that the provided persona is linked to the account "lar***_****ow@yahoo.com". Some characters are shown by * due to security reasons. If this is your account then please login with this account and its password then you will be able to play game online.

If there is anything else we may do to assist you please let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Akhilesh

So some cúnt-fúck with that email address is after hacking my account.

Back onto EA and dont let go until they sort it out for you. If you bought with your credit card through Origin, make sure they verify with the payment details.

EA customer support... the incompetent fewls.

  • Registered Users Posts: 913 ✭✭✭TheFairy

FFS dont let them away with that. Also demand to know how it was hacked if you are confident your security is tight at your end!

They want me to send them my game keys for BF3/BF3LE/BF3 Physical Warfare / BFBC2 & Vietnam etc

Oh, and the name of my first pet

Seriously pissed off that someone could hack and take over my account.

No hope they could have gotten account details from me or my pc, so definitely was an EA site hack.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,692 ✭✭✭Dublin_Gunner

    Just sent them this:
    Dear sirs,

As stated previously, I will forward the keys later this evening.

However, the more serious situation I would like resolved is how did someone manage to gain access to my account and account details to change the email address and gain ownership of these accounts?

Are EA actively seeking to resolve security issues that they obviously have?

I need 100% assurance that my personal details (including credit card payment information) is kept secure by EA, or I will have to take this further.

This situation is not acceptable. I have been a user and customer of EA for MANY years, using the exact same account details and e-mail address. So surely you can see this information in my account history.

    Regards,

    Dublin_Gunner

    Their reply
    Dear Dublin_Gunner,

Thank you for writing back to us.

I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to you. Our database is secure. But this type of issue happens when players put their information on wrong websites.

Please keep in mind that you always login to Battlelog or forums using official link or website and never share your password with anyone.

Once you provide us requested information, we will be able to recover your account.

If there is anything else we may do to assist you please let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Akhilesh
Electronic Arts - World Wide Customer Experience

    and my reply:
    Dear sir,

I find your response highly offensive, derogatory, dismissive and patronising.

There was no chance any of my account details were published on any website by me. Being an IT professional, I am more aware than most people of how to keep my details secure.

Therefore, I will once again reiterate that this shortcoming MUST be on EA's side, and I must request that I get a guarantee that my information is secure.

The only way ANYONE would have access to any of my account information would be through EA / Origin.

We have very stringent laws here in Ireland on Data Protection, and I sincerely hope I will not be forced to make a complaint about EA's practices to our Data Protection Commissioner.

    Regards,
    DubG

Ouch, I hope it gets sorted for you. BF Heroes beta forum and other gaming sites were compromised by lulzsec last year. Here's a list of accounts that were stolen:
http://www.mediafire.com/?3l4e35633djzgf9 -no passwords in this file, just usernames and emails, everyone should check this if they havent before!

Apparently lulzsec did this to highlight why you shouldnt use the same password and email address on different sites. If any of those sites get compromised due to weak security then your email account gets nabbed and then it's quite easy for them to get all your other accounts too.

Unfortunately that's probably what happened you and many others I suspect. I would advise that you change your passwords for other sites immediately, especially your main email address. If you use gmail you can click on the little "Details" link at the bottom right of your inbox screen to see what country and IP your last 10 logins were from.

nowadays I have one difficult unique password on my email account, a different one for each of steam, origin and a few others that have my credit card details and I use a handy one for other random sites

EDIT: I just saw that it happened after the battlelog update, perhaps EA screwed up in this case

Actually mate, the list above was for random gaming sites. You should check this list of compromised accounts here which is exclusively for BF Heroes beta:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?6kj3rry07wxj6d9

Your name is on that list so that means that your username and possibly password and email address were stolen back last june. google lulzsec and bf heroes for more info and start changing your passwords now especially if the same password was used for your email login

    Jesus.

Cheers for that. Funny that they only decided to take over my account within the last week or so.

Sent my keys onto EA, so hopefully they'll get it sorted for me.

Yeah it could have happened at any time, maybe even not from that particular breach. My account wasnt on that list but it reminded me to stop using one password for everything. That security breach will only affect you if you used the same password on other sites or services.

Dont forget to change your paypal password if it was the same one you use everywhere as well.

Well after lifting that EA guy out of it as per my mail above, I have still had no response...

Sent all my keys etc on Friday, and emailed tham back twice since, but still no reply or resolution.

    Grrr...

I just got a mail from support to say they received my petition and are currently investigating it.........??????????????????????
Petition history: On 02-05-2012 you asked Battlefield3 support:
    Bad content in profile

I know I'm away with the fairies most nights but i really don't remember writing to ea about someone's profile, I'm to lazy for that.

Its a strange one hope my account is ok seems to be.

Very strange. Though I'd have to say, just because you have access, doesn't mean its not compromised. I'd change the password if I was you.

Could he BE a hacker???? :D

Iv only come across 2 out and out hackers and iv reported them but im nearly sure it wasnt on Sunday 5th like EA said cause that night we had the boards match and i didnt play public that night

Tired changing the password seems origin wont display the box to change it.

I get that email back when I report a player using a bot or hacking. Its nothing to be worried about. Google Bad content in profile, you'll see it on the EA forums.

Edit: Got you and Dublin_Gunner mixed up my bad.

E-mailed EA again, and still no response.

Can you login to battlelog at all?

Nope. That's how I found out I had the issue to begin with a week or 2 ago.

I can't even reset my password or anything, as it states no account with my e-mail address exists. (even though it's been active since probably 2000/2001).

Funnily - I can still login to my EA account (which is how I managed to contact support).

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,831 ✭✭✭Lucutus

Is that a live chat support? If so, I suggest you get on and stay on until they sort it. time consuming and annoying, I know.

Tell them you're a games journalist or something, due to your bad experience with this hacking issue and the response from EA Customer Service you are logging everything to support an article for publication about the experience consumers have with their service.

Make up anything, just give them a reason to want to help you aside from that warm fuzzy feeling they dont even pretend to get after they sort a problem for someone. Be vague on verifiable facts, but harsh on consequences for the company if they dont sort you out!

It won;t allow me to choose live support.. grrrr...

I'm pretty sure Akimesh or whatever his name was can't figure out what to do - its WAY above his head. I've submitted a second ticket, highlighting the first ticket, and detailing the issues in the hope it gets escalated, or at least sent to a different customer service person.
