Follow on, any other Irish or ex-LOI players in far flung places?

    Cork?

I think George O'Callaghan plays in the S-League in Singapore.

Declan 'Fabio' O'Brien was playing in Malta for a while with Valetta. Back at Drogs now.

Former Bohemians player Dominic Foley plies his trade in Belgium.

Padraig Amond went to Portugal as far as I know.

Edit: Just found this with a quick Google search. Irish Players abroad (not including UK).

He's going to get lots of women in Iran after that. Roastings aplenty.

Correct. That's why McCarthy got about 80 seconds against Macedonia last March. Up till then, he could have chosen to play for Scotland. So if Zayed has played 4 times for Libya, but in no competitive matches (ACoN qualifiers/finals, WC qualifiers/finals) for them, then he is still elligible for Ireland.

Only because he was under 21 (I think).

Persepolis play again Wednesday afternoon, maybe he'll get a chance to start this one.

Bit harsh on Van Persie. Hat trick and 2 (iirc) assists.

That was against a crap side who were down to 10 men.

Zayeds hat-trick was scored in the biggest derby in Asia in the last 9 mins, where he came on as a sub (only his 2nd match) and his side were down to 10 men and losing 2-0.

But could he do it on a cold Febuary night in Tehran?

You'd think it would have received bigger coverage in the Irish media. I'm not saying it hasn't been mentioned in other papers and websites, but i've only seen mention of the hat-trick her on Boards, foot.ie and extratime.ie, all LOI related sites!

Irish media is crazy, but I'm suprised they didn't show it for 7 seconds on rte news

So you reckon Zayed would be capable of a hattrick and a couple of assists against Blackburn?

Surely if it was that easy he'd be in England earning 70k a week?

Relative strength/Importance/Drama make zayed deserve that very prestigious goal.com player of the week award, wouldnt put rvp really in running, just a nothing match

Hate to burst your bubble but it never gets above 10c in Teheran at this time of the Year. Other parts of Iran are colder.

I read somewhere last week he's on a 5 month contract with Persopolis worth €100k. Not a bad deal for him!

By listing the weather forecast are you arguing for or against Van Persie being able to do it on a cold Feb night in Tehran?

Hasn't had many chances today. He started the game and they were 1-0 up at HT. Fajr have scored 3 goals from well outside the box. Two 30 yard efforts and a 25 yarder. The Persepolis keeper is sh*te!

If we're goign to start calling up players that are already playing for another country, would we not be aswell ringing Messi first?:)

Dont want come accross as a bitter LOI fan here but one thing is fcuking glaringly obvious to us Pats fans in that article (not racism hes cnut).
    Asian Football Confederation Champions League

The result sees Persepolis climb to the top of Group D with four points after an opening day draw away to Al Hilal of Kazakhstan.

    Seriously........What the the Fcuk!!!!!
