Some way to score your first three club goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,460 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

    3rd goal was a beauty.

Lovely ball for first goal too.

He declared for Libya last year though

Esteghlal v Persepolis is the biggest game in Iran and the biggest derby in Asia. He's got to be a hero after that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭Ebbs

Not long ago I seen him in the local Superquinn with a Bray tracksuit on (Was playing for Drogs at the time) buying donuts.

If he proves a success over there it'll be mental to see the league having to battle with Oil backed clubs for their best players :/

Do the Pan Arab Games count as competitive internationals? If not, he's still elligible for Ireland.

And noone finds that oddest reply ever on boards soccer forum?

He definitely can't declare for Ireland. He has played in an international friendly for Libya and is over 21.

The Pan Arab Games squad he was in was a B team I think. I'm not sure if they count.

Why? Has he transformed since he left the LOI?? Better than Keane, Long, Walters, Doyle, Cox? I don't think so. Also, as stated, he has played for Libya

Correct. That's why McCarthy got about 80 seconds against Macedonia last March. Up till then, he could have chosen to play for Scotland. So if Zayed has played 4 times for Libya, but in no competitive matches (ACoN qualifiers/finals, WC qualifiers/finals) for them, then he is still elligible for Ireland.

The Persepolis shirts look like a painter's radio.

How exactly did Zayed end up in Iran? Bit of a left-field destination for a LoI player.

New vistas needed to be opened with more potential for the prejudicial oppression of his inner spirit.

Apologies to all Esteghial fans on the board. I over reacted. I am a big Persopolis fan you see.

I have been warned about my conduct towards to the Esteghial fans on the board here and it is noted. I hope you can find it in your hearts to firgive me.

    Persipolis till I die.

Didn't he briefly head to somewhere like Azerbaijan a few years ago? I could be wrong.

    Cork?

I think George O'Callaghan plays in the S-League in Singapore.

Declan 'Fabio' O'Brien was playing in Malta for a while with Valetta. Back at Drogs now.

Former Bohemians player Dominic Foley plies his trade in Belgium.

Padraig Amond went to Portugal as far as I know.

Edit: Just found this with a quick Google search. Irish Players abroad (not including UK).

Bit harsh on Van Persie. Hat trick and 2 (iirc) assists.

That was against a crap side who were down to 10 men.

Zayeds hat-trick was scored in the biggest derby in Asia in the last 9 mins, where he came on as a sub (only his 2nd match) and his side were down to 10 men and losing 2-0.

But could he do it on a cold Febuary night in Tehran?

You'd think it would have received bigger coverage in the Irish media. I'm not saying it hasn't been mentioned in other papers and websites, but i've only seen mention of the hat-trick her on Boards, foot.ie and extratime.ie, all LOI related sites!

Irish media is crazy, but I'm suprised they didn't show it for 7 seconds on rte news

So you reckon Zayed would be capable of a hattrick and a couple of assists against Blackburn?

Surely if it was that easy he'd be in England earning 70k a week?

Relative strength/Importance/Drama make zayed deserve that very prestigious goal.com player of the week award, wouldnt put rvp really in running, just a nothing match

Hate to burst your bubble but it never gets above 10c in Teheran at this time of the Year. Other parts of Iran are colder.

I read somewhere last week he's on a 5 month contract with Persopolis worth €100k. Not a bad deal for him!

By listing the weather forecast are you arguing for or against Van Persie being able to do it on a cold Feb night in Tehran?

Hasn't had many chances today. He started the game and they were 1-0 up at HT. Fajr have scored 3 goals from well outside the box. Two 30 yard efforts and a 25 yarder. The Persepolis keeper is sh*te!
