    wow.
even in 2016 that was €600 cheaper than he claims he paid.

it's the 2010 model, so not the seven year old bike he suggests:

    plus, carbon frame?

  • Registered Users Posts: 537 ✭✭✭Cetyl Palmitate

200 for the pump/helmet/saddle combo seems just a tad over priced!

The frame itself is actually easy on the eye considering it's vintage. Dare I say better looking that the current Contend 2 which would be it's 2020 counterpart in terms of spec.

I noticed that too, that's some serious bs in that ad!

I notice in the comments, that it's fairly light, 5.25 lbs.

Not overpriced but there is a bike for sale near me where the seller says "I won't respond to ridiculous offers or messages asking what is your last price". His asking price is "make an offer".

Wouldn't mind but the bike is missing shifters, derailleurs and chainset so not even easy to put a value on it.

Also says bike was never used but the bar tape up near the hoods look well worn

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,581 ✭✭✭Trekker09

It's been withdrawn. Looking at the sellers feedback, he has all positive feedback so I think he genuinely genuinely didn't know too much about the true value of the bike and the other items. It's a cracking bike but only at the right price point.

    Overpriced, or maybe not...

2006 model but only 5 years old according to the owner....

In fairness he didn't say he bought it new 5 years ago.

Anyway, sold I see. Unlikely at that price though :)

Sure it's nice and has some very nice parts but €9500  when will the madness stop.

Crazy. I nearly pulled the trigger on one a few months back from a shop for just over €4K new with full guarantee with similar spec. I backed off when I read about the BB issues with the R5s.

Be interesting to see what it sells for (if it sells at all)

I'm thinking at that price point it may not be a voluntary sale and he has priced it not to sell :D

This one isn't really about the price of the bike but more about the major selling point mentioned (and backed up by a screenshot no less). It doesn't actually come with this technology but the upgrade is available it seems.

BTW: If you're genuinely taken by this I also have some magic beans you may be interested in.

Not a bike, just a wheelset.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/bicycles-for-sale/lightweight-meilenstein-special-edition-wheelset/28252546?campaign=3

So.... chipped, marked, buckled AND punctured, only 950 euro.

I'd say they're fake as fook and who the hell puts a gatorskin tyre on a set on meilenstein wheels.

I think the spokes are usually carbon also if I'm not mistaken.

I can vouch that theyre real, but man they are beateb to crap

the spokes etc are carbon, but they were given a white coating by the manufacturer.

That's mad they look rusted in those pics. I would be reluctant to ride those wheels brand new it would be like riding on egg shells but second hand and in that condition not a chance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,486 ✭✭✭at1withmyself

I think I can trump that one (although is it the same set?)

Another reason for the sale is that they're absolutely bunched and at least on of them is destined for a catastrophic failure.

Not the same set or at least pics taken at different stages of their rough as hell lives.

"The gears are Shimano 105 and have the option of bluetooth gear selection"

Pure BS. Only SRAM etap uses a proprietry form of bluetooth for gear selction. Surpised noone has called him on it. Of course you always have option to change the groupset to etap. Maybe that's what he meant. Or maybe he got confused and was referring to using the buttons on the top of the shimano di2 shifters to control the gears. Nope that's not it either, as not bluetooth. So just lies.

I wonder is he getting mixed up with the cadence sensor?

Comments updated yesterday after someone asked how the bluetooth worked:
"you have to download an app to your phone. I've never personally used the feature but I have watched several videos on it on YouTube. One of its features is it learns your routes and will automatically select the right gear for you, pretty man actually lol"

I think this is an Adverts thing to get round the rule that you have to take an offer that's at your set price, even if someone offers more. You see people advertising the equivalent of "Bottle of hair oil, €5,000" and then selling it for a fiver.
