Was listening to this on the News earlier.

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0126/rostasm.html

What a horrendous thing to happen to that poor girl. Abducted, raped, shot in the head and then her body put in bin liners and dumped in the mountains in a shallow grave.

I read somewhere that they pretty much know who the culprit is and that his family have covered it up.

Hopefully Justice is served to the evil bastid who did that.

There's a perverse hatred on boards.ie for the Roma. I don't understand it, but do a quick search and you will see what people here think of them, so she won't get much sympathy here. I'm pretty sure I remember her knocking around town. Tragic and shocking stuff.

What was the motive ? Criminal gangs don't usually do this stuff randomly.

We should build our very own Colosseum and every ****er that has raped, murdered or abused anybody should been mauled to death.

No, we wouldn't want the lion to be tainted by such a bastard's blood.

They would usually have access to prostitutes, violence towards women would be the norm, most wouldn't dare go to the Gardai. I am guessing they went to far and presumed nobody would really care about a missing young Roma.

i read somewhere that the plastic bags were sealed so tight, they may well have preserved some valuable DNA evidence.
the guy allegedly responsible is currently being detained in Clover Hill on separate charges.

Heard a piece on RTE Radio 1 earlier and anyone that knew the girl spoke highly of her, they said she was polite and never got involved with the shoplifting gangs etc which existed within her peer group. Maybe that had something to do with her death, but who knows.

It's a horrific case whatever the story is.

She was only a kid FFS, and didn't deserve to be kidnapped, sexually abused and shot in the head

She was found in the foetal position.

Some scum did that, pure and utter toerags.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,618 ✭✭✭baldbear

Its well know who killed the poor kid. The guards even have the house and found the bullet holes from when she was murdered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 854 ✭✭✭Caraville

I'd like to think that there is good in everyone, deep down. But anyone who could do that to another human being- particularly one so defenceless- is just pure scum. Anyone that could do that to another person must have absolutely no regard for life. Not even their own.

Now that they have found a body/remains I guess it's only a matter of time before we see someone prosecuted for it.

I bet she will get sympathy here. Those who usually go off on one about Roma can instead vent on how they'd like the culprits tortured.

Its a terrible thing no matter what ethnic group she belonged to.
The poor girl was only 18 years old and had only been in the country 3 weeks.
Her brother approached the car she got into and the men in it handed him a tenner and drove off with her, that was the last time she was seen alive.
    :(

Hopefully the family of the murderer, or whoever knows who is responsible, tells the Guards what they need to know to secure a successful prosicution.

How could you not give information over?

Some twisted sense of loyalty or maybe just the pure ignorance of "not talking to the pigs".

Anyone who is capable of doing something like that is an evil cnut, plain and simple.

huh  I wouldn't have any fondness for the Roma that's well justified

but that's completely different to brutally raping and murdering a defenceless young girl

no need to confuse people who dislike Roma to be the equivalent of a Nazi

Strange that the Garda appealed to a couple from Wexford to come forward with information. Said that the man and woman had called the police a couple of years earlier and had given details of the murder. Would this not be letting the gang know the identities of people that had informed on them.

Was reading earlier that her parents may not be able to afford flying her body home so she may be buried here in Ireland. That must be extremely hard for her family.

Maybe they are making that up to throw the scent away from who actually gave the info.

I would imagine that anyone who informed to the Guards would quite rightly be in fear of their lives...

Maybe they could sieze whatever assets the main culprit has and use these to at least send her body home and have a decent burial.

Was there a reason why she was abducted or was it for their own kicks?

Not that it makes much difference to the poor girl now. When you hear of stories like this you really have to question the mentality of some people, or if they are even human.

The short, desperate life of Mariora Rostas

    http://philipboucherhayes.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/mariora-rostas.jpg
Podcast of my Drivetime report on the murdered teenager.

I have reported from Palestinian refugee camps, the squats of migrant Africans in abandoned railroad warehouses, sink estates in Eastern Europe and drug dens in Central America. I have never been as shocked by somebody’s living conditions, though until I went to Donabate in North Dublin yesterday.
Mariora Rostas was one of fifteen children born in Timisoara in Romania to Mariora and Dimitru Rostas. The extended Rostas family were among those who took up residence in 2007 in the roundabout at the Ballymun intersection of the M50. But the parents of the murdered Roma eighteen year old didn’t travel here until the end of that year after the majority had already been repatriated. Mariora stayed at home to look after her younger brothers and sisters while her parents came her to beg.
Mariora snr and Dumitru would have been very far removed from those in the Roma community who live a life of luxury off the proceeds of begging. Dumitru was a horse dealer, and not very successful at it. However bad things were in Romania they would want to have been awful to be an improvement on where they found themselves living when they got here.
The abandoned bungalow on the outskirts of Donabate is of course not a worse place to live than a refugee camp. There was no running water, toilet, electricity, light, flooring or furniture. Rubble has been bulldozed up to the back of the house to deny access, it has burst through all the windows. Rainwater runs freely down the wall. I couldn’t see the hand in front of my face it was so dark.
I found it shocking because this is how Mariora lived for the last three weeks of her life. The circumstances of her disappearance and death are pretty distressing. But the conditions of the life she was born into, and had no chance of escaping are worth dwelling on too. Particularly as all of the more prurient and less charitable things that were reported four years ago have turned out to be unfounded.
Have a listen to the podcast for a more complete insight into how Mariora lived while she was here, and a hopefully restrained glimpse into how she died.
    http://philipboucherhayes.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/mariora-hearse.jpg

    Hopefully the murderer gets prosecuted.

At a guess, I think she would have been held captive and used as a prostitute in some brothel.

She was an attractive girl so I imagine that's what motivation was for the scum that took her.

I don't support it, but if there's ever an argument for the death penalty, this is about as convincing as it's going to get for me. This has to be a whole life tarrif sentence. Predators like this should never, ever be released. I personally hope these f****** meet a grim end.

Roma, Romanian, it doesn't really matter.

    From the RTE Website.

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0123/rostasm.html

"Gardaí investigating the disappearance of an 18-year-old Romanian girl four years ago have found unidentified human remains during a search operation in Co Wicklow."

Whatever she was, I think the main headline is what is important.
"Human remains found in Co Wicklow search"

Yes, it does. I know plenty of actual Romainians, they despise Roma. It just shows the pure ignorance of RTE and the media in this matter. Roma are prevelent all across Eastern Europe and make Irish Travellers look like saints.
