    IMAG0141.jpg

I picked up my FTR rifle this evening. I am delighted how it has turned out.

    Specs:

    Blueprinted Remington Action
    31" Trueflite 1-10 Bull Barrel
    Jewell Trigger
    E-Tac Stock
    Burris 6.5-20x50 (for now)

All work was done by Fergal White of Ireland Custom Rifles

I can't wait to give it a go at the Novice shoot on Saturday.

Also Fergal was telling me that he will be at the range on Saturday with the heads from Sporting Rifle Magazine so we will probably all be in next months Sporting Rifle.

You must have been standing over Edi's shoulder as he was designing that stock :D

The rifle is fantastic. A credit to the workmanship what went into it. Now you have no excuses.;)

    Well wear lad.

No reason really, just looking at the future so when my chamber is getting a bit worse for wear I can get it set back to 30" and still be competitive at 1000 yards....have to think economically in the current climate

whats the barrel life going to be like if your thinking of setting it back to 30 " i would be thinking of a few thousand rounds before that would come into play

I should get about 3000 through it before I have to think of setting it back.

Ez might be able give a better idea on that

Here is the FTR rig with a new scope and bipod. I am well under weight. I am actually to light at 16.6 lbs with a weight limit of 18.18 lbs. It is shooting like a dream and the only thing that needs to improve is my wind reading skills :o
Will have a set of NF rings on it by the end of the week. Looking forward to the Nationals now on the 5th & 6th of May.

Sweet looking rig dev. I'm very jealous.

Where did you get the bubble level on the rail, if you don't mind me asking? PM me if you want.

    Thanks lads!

I got the level off a member on here that had it for sale.
If you check ebay you will get any number of them.

    Best of luck with it!

What do the other F-class shooting lads make of the new stock? Held one myself and thought it was beautiful, just wondering what the competitive shooters thought of it?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 28,697 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cass

The stock is very well made, and adjustable in all ways you would need it.

From my shooting with timber stocks all the time, and only using composite stocks in a hunting rig the initial sensation is "odd" at first, but that soon goes away when you see the results.

She is looking the business now lad, and should serve you well.

I'm not actually sure. None of them have really shot it but some like it.
What I like is it can be made to a weight that you want.

    This one likes it!;)

Don't have one of Edi's stocks (at the moment) - but if/when I ever get around/save-the-readies/feel the need to upgrade from my current set-up, PSE Composites handiwork will be going up the top of my to-buy list.

Some minor adjustments I'd make to suit my own particular peccadilloes to the stock if getting one - but all-in-all an excellent stock design which should tick all the right boxes for the majority of shooters. The ability to control and alter the weight of the stock in production is probably its greatest selling-point IMO - particularly for any FTR shooter going for a longer (e.g. 32'') barrel or one with a heavy profile (e.g. bull- or heavy-palma profiles), if you want to keep using a "heavy-ish" Nightforce scope on top.

I believe we'll be seeing more and more of these E-tac Stocks on the firing line.
