This place gets fairly quiet after a good win

I was thinking the same, just woke up and this is the first thread I do check. Nothing in my subbed threads. When we lose the thread does be hopping, when we win, hardly anything

Was thinking the same, think everyone just to use to being negative! I find the 'Wenger Out' brigade quiten when we win and the pro Wenger brigade come in for a good arguement when we lose to take away the stress!

Hopefully it'll stay quiet for a few months longer!

I'm a big fan of no knee jerk responses in either direction. Still, was good to hammer someone which hasn't happened in a while.

Hardly fair to single me out, I could see the same about the pro Wenger brigade when we lose. The fact is it was a great performance, but it was a weakened Blackburn side at home. A good performance and expected victory.

The real test is the next few weeks, FA Cup tough away game, Spurs at home, Sunderland away , away at Anfield, Champions League.
Our away form hasn't been good enough to get top 4, and unless we see improvement we won't get there.

On another note I'm watching AC Milan now, and I think if the team keeps Van Persie fit, and are up for it, we have a good chance.

Sorry no offence meant - I thought you would appreciate the recognition :) and of course all your points are valid.

I think its because we won quite comfortably. The media love controversy, we didnt win 2-1 with a late penalty, or we didnt come back from 2 goals down (only to hear about a van persie elbow and not the comeback), we didnt loose to Fulham...

If we are good and we win, there are no stories....

    Chelsea might crumble after that

Agreed. A Liverpool win and then they can lose the plot away to wigan or something later in the season

Liverpool going ahead of us by 1 point is a little nicer than being 12 points adrift of Tottenham, think we should all be rooting for the pool tomorrow.

+1 on that I felt a lil bit dirty rooting for united i think even a little bit of me wanted Chelsea to win only because im so used to hoping United to loose hard to get used to this new situation were im watching 4th place only.

Far more chance of that happening than us doing what United did in fairness though.

    van Persie 28 (22)
    Walcott 6 (3)
    Arteta 4 (4)
    Oxlade-Chamberlain 4 (2)

    Gervinho 4 (4)
    Henry 2 (1)
    Benayoun 3 (1)
    Vermaelen 3 (3)
    Arshavin 2 (1)
    Ramsey 2 (1)
    Santos 2 (1)
    Chamakh 1 (1)
    Gibbs 1 (0)
    Koscielny 1 (1)
    Park 1 (0)
    Song 1 (1)

    (league goals in brackets)

Ox flying up the chart (not hard considering how few everybody bar RvP is on). I wonder will anybody else hit double digits?

    PS: sorry about the delay

In fairness, Arsenal did something quite similar against Villa in the cup.

That goalscoring chart gets more scarey everytime you look at it. Van Persie on 22 league goals and the next closest is on 4?

Even if he stays fits for the rest of the season and Arsenal manage to get 4th, Wenger should still be slapped upside the head for not getting another striker in during January. Cisse at Newcastle has been reasonably highly rated for a couple of years, it's not like there wasn't players available.

The problem with stats is that they can be used to hide an awful lot, especially if you are selective with what data you are using.

I like Ramsey, for the most part. He is a good player and has bags of potential. I just don't think he is the finished article yet. I have two main criticisms of him.

    1. He regularly makes stupid decisions like trying to flick the ball in important positions when a simple pass would be far more effective. On rare occasions he get away with it, but for the most part he loses the ball and gives up what is usually a very good scoring chance.

    2. His long passes are poor. I could be wrong, but I don't think I have seen him make a successful long pass all season. Usually they either go astray or fall short.

Both of these problems should be easily fixable if they are addressed. He is still young so it could be that he just needs to mature a little with regards the flicking and stuff but if he also managed to improve his long passing I would be far happier with him and he would be by far a much better player.

Oh I fully agree he is nowhere near the finished article, but he gets a very hard time from fans that I think is unjust
It's his first season with us really and he had to learn his craft in a midfield that was only trying to gel together, wilshere had a better midfield around him last year to let him shine
He is also overplayed this season which wenger should be cautious about, but I think he is gonna turn into a class player for is and I can't wait for him and wilshere to hook up

It's sad that in probably less than one half, Henry has as many goals as Park and Chamakh do combined.

The way everyone is playing at the moment though I can't see Ramsey and Wilshere hooking up in central midfield. If we are going to continue playing 3 in the middle (which I don't agree with), surely a more deserving midfield and possibly far better midfield would be Wishere, Song and Arteta.

You could argue that Song is the weak link there but overall this season he has been very good and I don't think Ramsey could play in the same role as Song. Ramsey definitely isn't good enough to take over from Arteta yet and anyway Arteta has more than earned his place on the team despite peoples objections at the start of the season. Finally, between Ramsey and Wilshere, Wilshere is the clear favourite and is probably a better footballer overall than Ramsey. Now unless Ramsey adapts to playing in another position, it could well be that Ramsey becomes a second choice player or an impact sub, at least for next season. Although this is a tough decision I can see no alternative at the moment.
