2002 Volvo S40 going for very handy money if it is as seller describes with new tyres, timing belt, fully serviced and new battery. Almost a years test on it also.

I know there are two different 1.8 engines in these. One I believe is Volvos own unit and the other is a Mitsuibishi GDI engine, which isin't generally held in as high a regard as the Volvo unit. Not sure which engine is in the particular car I linked to. Pity he doesn't put in the mileage also.

Still irrespective, it seems like a lot of car for the money if it is as seller describes...

If that has a big exhaust hanging off the back of it, then I saw it a few days ago and it did indeed look a very clean example.

Massive number-plate hiding fail though :pac:

    Ah quit. :D

I see the disc holder is empty, so I presume it has indeed no tax, can't bate the 11 months N.C.T though.

That's right another red Avensis :pac:. This is a 1.6 petil with test till 4/14. Ad says that the timing belt was just done, does that mean that it is one of the last 4A-FE engined ones? I thought they were all vvti after 1999

VVT-i engines were not fitted to Avensis until the facelifted version came out in late 2000.

No mention of service history just that it was regularly serviced.

i got a 98, great car to drive, 20 euro will get me around 56 miles,

Not fantastic mpg for a 1.6 would you say? Depends on whether its town/city driving or motorway driving though and your driving style and to a lesser extent a few other variables.

Its not very scientific but at todays unleaded prices I reckon I get over 80 maybe closer to 90 miles for €20 in a 1.6 vvti avensis. That equates to a ball park figure of 32 mpg (I'm Irish, not European so don't bother with this litres per 100 km malarky or whatever they call it;)) which ain't super really. 70 of those miles would be motor way driving. The remainder would be short journeys in built up area.

If your getting only 56 miles per €20 at todays petrol prices that only circa 21 or at best 22mpg

Haha you have to laugh at some of these guys. In the ad he mentions

"Engine was running perfect until today dunno what went wrong"

and then further down the ad he says

    "Is drivin 110%"

wtf like? Pardon my French and all that but if there are engine problems how could the fu*king thing be running 110%. What planet are some of these guys actually on?

    Lol,

Seriously though if it wasn't a hard fix as you say yourself dgt, it would make a nice project. that car has potential. :)

It does have potential, alas I'm trying to curtail the car buying habit there's too many here as is!

If I were to buy it though, I'd prob change the engine and strip the old one
