49ers Saints game has to go down as one of the best play off games in modern history. Just wow, doubt many of us here would of labelled Alex Smith clutch! But holy sh*t was the 49ers defence tough tonight probably the best defence in the league.

He's very Joe Flacco or Mark Sanchez. They'd **** it up for years as well if the rest of the team was poor too. Once they get a good team and coach around them though, watch out.

To be fair to smith, he's never had much stability, I think there is one two year period when he's had the same HC and OC. It must be very tough learning new schemes the entire time.

I always liked him after he restructured his contract in order to stay with the 49'ers and try to win his job back.

It'll be some journey if he gets a ring this year.

I wouldn't mind seeing him get it, 49ers are a nice team to like (Bar that **** Michael Crabtree most unlike able player in the league).

Uh...just woke up and am dying! Too much too drink but worth it to be actual with Pats fans last night!

Really was one great game and one walk over....what was expected to be fair! Hopefully the Tebow crap will die down in the next 6/7 months!

Anyone know a good site to get extended highlights from Saints v 49ers game? Had a look myself but can't find anything but the game winning drive.

Well played Miller. Kinda reminds me of when a ****e team gets hammered in a gaelic match, what do they do but start a few fights. Least i got the impression he cared though, unlike the vast majority that showed up in white tonight.
    Quote from Miller
Was not a cheap shot, hit was totally legal, Play wasn't over, I could've loafed and said game over, but I didn't. Never quit, never give up

NFL.com has 12-minute highlights. Watched them this morning cus I only saw bits of the game live.

Oh yeah just because Von Miller says it wasn't that makes it right. The ball was clearly down and he hit Connolly from behind. That is a clear cheap shot in anyones book. I am sorry but I don't buy the never give up sh1te when the play is clearly over.n Here is a freeze frame of it. You can see the play is clearly over.

I wouldn't call the 49ers win an upset as such. They had a week off, home field advantage and came in with the meanest defense in the league as far as touchdowns are concerned and one of the best in the league in all categories. It was always going to be a close game.

Tonight's first game for me gives the first chance of a real upset because I think the Texans are a lot better than people think and their D is just incredible this season. They have been getting to the QB regularly and Flacco is one of the worst in the league imo when he is pressured. Thing is the Ravens have home field advantage and that week off which is huge, especially for older players like Ray Ray and Ed Reed.

Still though when it comes down to it you need somebody exceptional on offense that you believe can get it done in what for me should be a real low scoring tough game and one player stands out on offense and his name is Andre Johnson. I don't see anybody breaking out on the ground against either of these Ds. Its all about how TJ Yates handles the pressure imo, if he puts in a half decent performance then I think the Texans win it because nobody can take Andre Johnson out of the game. I'm predicting that Flacco has an awful night tonight.

I normally watch NFL Network but trying CBS today on a stream

Do CBS have an Irish broadcaster working for them?
He's doing previews, definitely sounds Irish

Brady punted the ball - the play is live until the ball is whistled dead - it wasn't. No lfag was thrown for the Miller hit. Any Pats player was vulnerable to being hit as in normal punt coverage. If the Pats didn't want people getting hit in punt coverage on 3rd down then they shouldn't have punted the bloody ball.

    I'd have to disagree.

The Ravens are one of the best home teams in the league, have a lot of leadership and playoff experience in their ranks. That counts for a lot. They've also had the week off.

Flacco feels he has something to prove and will be up for this one, as long as we mix it up a bit giving Rice a good bit of the ball I think we'll be fine.

Yates will have trouble with the crowd noise, and can Houston handle what will likely be plenty of blitzing trying to get at the rookie?

    Ravens by 7-10 IMO.

Oh come on. Nobody could actually believe that never give up ****. It's a scummy hit.

I didnt see the game so can't really have an opinion, but was it not a bit of a classless move from the Pats to have Brady punt the ball? Taking the piss basically?

Story has it that Brady snubbed Tebow when he looked for the post match handshake. If that's true that's exceptionally poor form

FFS. doesnt take much for the 'classless' Patriots story to come winding it self out again. Why would Brady snub Tebow? you saw the embrace they had after the first game.

By all accounts, he went to find Tebow, he was surrounded by media, and then Brady was caught in an interview for the media then. what is he supposed to do? tell all the journalists to piss off so he can go shake someones hand or it will be all blown out of proportion?

Snubbing a player is walking by them and ignoring them. Snubbing isnt when you go to find them, and cant because all the media is in the way and both players miss each other out on the field because they are caught in interviews. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

it was a cheap shot. anyone with any sense knows that. there was no return going to happen. Miller was just taking out his frustration on an easy target of a player with his back to him. it wasnt about getting hit or hurt, it was about hitting someone from behind when the play is just about dead. If Miller wanted to take out his frustration, he should have done it on the line of scrimmage.

here we go. and I only just saying the classless stories coming out in the previous post.

What is classless? is it running up the score? Brady could have thrown for a completion and it would have been classless. It was third and long, under 2 minutes. it was giving them the ball back deep and letting the clock run out and not leaving players in to be injured.

but I'm sure there will be some other ridiculous classless story to try throw around shortly.

Are you serious? Look at the picture. That was a cheapshot whether legal or not. This isnt about whether or not he did it in the letter of the game. Its about whether it was a cheapshot or not. And to hit someone in the back who is bigger than you when it is clear the ball is down and the guy you are hitting is already giving up on the play it is a cheap shot. Had Connolly been facing Miller I doubt he would have hit him. It was clear Miller was frustrated and he took it out on a player with his back to him when the ball was down.

As for explaining the type of coverage what the fook has that got to do with anything?

Maybe a little, but it's a smart play. It's definitley going to pin them back, helps avoids injuries (not counting cheap hits like Von Miller), and it's just safer to punt on 3rd when there's not going to be a return.

Plus if we run up the score any more we'll be called classless anyway, there's no winning for the Pats (metaphorically obviously).

Classless for punting the ball ah for fúck sake  Give possesion back on 3rd down and get called classless. Talk about all the sore losing stories coming out the day after. Can't win on field look for the moral win

Bear in mind that I havent seen any highlights etc. Why didnt the regular punter just punt it? Was it a trick play?

Wasnt classless, it was calling off the dogs and having a laugh with it. Miller was just pissed because he saw it differently and he's only a rookie. Rookie acting like one, thats all. I'm at least glad he cared, i'm not mad he did it.

Big stop there on 3rd and 1 to only give up a field goal.

    Settle down now Baltimore.

They'll know it's a punt and they'll but somebody back there to return it. Pats didn't want players to get injured making tackles, Brady punting was the safest play.

See my next post. I didn't realise it was 3rd down, I thought they were just rolling out Brady in the punt formation for the craic. Keep going with the rolleyes anyway there

No he just decided to punt it. So what if they did it for the sh1ts and giggles though. There is no trick about punting a ball. And its hardly classless as you are giving the ball back to your opponent. What difference does it make what down you do it? They caught the Broncos off guard with it but its hardly a trick play.

We really need a kick returner. If I was Harbraugh I wouldn't even bother running anything out, too risky.

What did you expect to get back with your comment though? You told us you didn't watch it but yet you call it classless and taking the piss. May I suggest next time you actually watch it before commenting. What did you expect Pats fans to come back to you with?

It's funny, every time i see Baltimore return a kick it's either a touchdown or ye fumble :pac:

    Nicely played Jacoby
