The Steelers trashed the Patriots this season and are by any quantitative measure a more talented and complete team.

    I don't understand this statement

    Nor this one

Im only coming in from work now, have both games recorded but couldnt stop myself checking the scores, Brady has thrown for 6 tds??? has he been that good or have the Broncos been that bad??

I knew the games today would be entertaining but my high expectations have been exceeded. 49ers game was unbelievable drama and we are watching an offensive and defensive exhibition from the Patriots. Brilliant stuff

I would say both are true.

    sorry, what? it was 25-17.

    and when you say

The Patriots hardly 'hammered' the Broncos, Tebow and the offense exploited the Patriots defense well and for three quarters the game was very much in the balance, remember that Denver went into a 17-6 lead at one point. If Denver can handle the Steelers then the Patriots are far from a bridge too far.

    for a 41-23 game?

I'd have been confident playing the Steelers at home, with a better roster on our side, and a weakend one on theirs from the first game. and seeing how poor they were last week too.

Its clear he doesn't understand the words Hammering and Thrashing all that well. Or uses them to suit his own agenda. Either way the Steelers didn't thrash the Pats and the Pats have hammered the Broncos twice this season now. You would be a fool to think otherwise. And I am not saying this in a cocky way it is what it is.

Steelers was a playoff game. Im talking about the season. Im sorry but looking at your results, I dont see a serious contender.
Hey, Im a Giants fan and realise that the only reason they were allowed to get this far is due to a weak division this year. Good news for them as they are only hitting their peak now.

The Steelers controlled that game; I mis-remembered the score. The very fact the Steelers beat the Patriots was key in that the poster I quoted was trying to portray the Patriots as the first 'similar' level of opponent the Broncos faced this season.

Tonight just proves the difference between being hammered and being competitive, so that comment was very strange thing to try and dig up.

Tonight proves the difference between being hammered and being competitive, honestly, so that's was very strange thing to try and dig up.

It still wasn't a thrashing no matter what way you look at it even if the Steelers did control the game

And the Broncos were competitive for 1 quarter in the first game with the Pats. 27 unanswered points in that game.

wasnt trying to dig up anything strange, I just remembered it during the discussions this week and thought it was an odd thing to say, and then when you said the Patriots were hammered it made it even more odd. A team gets thrashed by 8 points, but a team losing by 18 is not hammered.

anyways, a disappointing end for the broncos on what was a good year. Nothing to do with this game, but I still question whether Tebow is the QB for the next 10 years there. The whole franchise will have to be altered to suit, as I dont see him changing to suit a conventional style play and a more adaptable style. But they are right to keep trying it anyway. Next season will be interesting once again. I wouldnt be criticising him on this game, or being down on him.

I thought you could take it as a given that because I misremembered the scoreline that I didn't still label it a 'trashing'!

Brady just broke a franchise record for passing yards a few minutes ago, be great if he can get another td on the board too so that record could be his also

Agrred and tonight is the prime example of why it is a must for Tebow to get better at throwing the football. The Pats stuffed the Option tonight and when the Broncos depend on the Read Option and their opponent stuffs it you are going to have to throw the football simple as.

Back to the game and Tom Brady Punts for 48 yards :D QB and Punter extraordinaire.

And what was Von Miller thinking.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 4,149 Mod ✭✭✭✭bruschi

thats the second time he has done it. did it against Miami too I think at the start of his career.

Von Miller then. why not play tough when it means something, not when the play is dead.

Brady's been incredible. Game was over after the first ten minutes. He was a man possessed first half.

Well played Miller. Kinda reminds me of when a ****e team gets hammered in a gaelic match, what do they do but start a few fights. Least i got the impression he cared though, unlike the vast majority that showed up in white tonight.

    Summary:
Offence...Thomas and McGahee get pass marks, Tebow gets a D- for playing poorly but wont get the worst stick because of the absolute beatin he took tonight and that he didnt throw 3 pick sixes or something. The offensive line tonight had to have been one of the most remarkably inept performances i've seen in the NFL ever, it beggared belief.

Defence....Bailey was ok keeping Welker relatively quiet i guess? The rest shambled around like a coop full of chickens doused in petrol and lit on fire.

Special Teams: Those were the lads that came out on kickoff return plays i assume? Tough going.

    that was an embarrassment.

Hopefully the Patriots take pity and call off the dogs for the rest of the game though!!

...and thank god they did. For a while there i expected a score in the 70's, hence retarded negativity even by my standards. Even still, that was absolute muck.

Punter and his other 10 guys around him, Kicker and the other 10 guys around him and both return teams :D

Tongue in cheek lol, all i saw of them was repeatedly taking the field for returns after Brady led a scoring drive....

From all i saw of the pats punter, i'd have been forgiven to think that Tom Brady was yers...:pac:

What the fuck, Sky Sports FFS!
I recorded the NFL programme that ended at 12:30am so missed the latter half of the SF/NO 4th quarter.
The highlights show at 10:30am this morning was pathetic - it only showed the scores.

Will the full match be shown anywhere later today?
It is not on Sky Sports Anytime.

Same thing happened to me during the season when recording a MNF game that went to overtime... I always change the end time now to be sure of getting the entire game!

Story has it that Brady snubbed Tebow when he looked for the post match handshake. If that's true that's exceptionally poor form

I forgot how good this feels. The **** you at the end with Brady punting on 3rd just adds that little extra to the win.

Brady really doesn't seem like the type to me.

Tebow getting beaten is like the likes of Jedward, Breffny Morgan etc getting eliminated from their respective reality TV shows: you know it's fair, they were NEVER going to win, but it just makes things a lot less fun now that they're gone.

    Can't wait for '4th & God' though.

I'm as surprised as you are, there must be a reason to it.

I'd be very surprised and disappointed if that's true. At the end of the first game Tebow and Brady had a bit of an embrace and Brady said something like ''hopefully we'll see you again''.

Perhaps he wasn't happy with the hype and attention Tebow was getting? No excuse for it really though, he made his point on the field.
