Also has anyone a delicious paleo recipe for me using two chicken breasts as my meat source, will cover me for 2 meals :)

    Breasts or fillets?
If it's fillets you could butterfly them(cut open) and stuff them with something like spinach. I normally add goats cheese to chicken fillets but you I don't know if your eating cheese

If it's breasts maybe something like lemon chicken, roast covered and slowly in oven with juice from some lemons, olive oil(I don't think the taste of other oils would work) garlic, a bit of cracked pepper & salt, herbs like parsley and thyme I think I'd put in a little white wine vinegar or just a little bit of white wine near the end. (maranade in fridge for a while first)

If it still has the skin on you can do something simple like cut the skin and put flavours like garlic & fresh herbs under with a little bit of butter(if you eat it, maybe ghee would work) wrap it in foil and bake.

These are just off the top of my head of what I find nice, so not really exact recipes.

If anyone sees a recipe that they like but it's not paleo/primal. I could probably alter it to fit, I don't seem to find it too difficult but I eat a bit of dairy(mainly the fats, cheese, butter and a bit of cream) I avoid all wheat and gluten(even trace) or at least try, I will eat normal potatoes and rice but rarely.I try avoid soy too, unless it's properly fermented and stuff. I try to soak my nuts :pac: and dehydrate them in the oven. In short I just eat real food that I cook myself. I don't think I'm really paleo or primal but I suppose I'm nearer that than anything else.

    I love this chicken recipe

Might be too much hassle for 2 breasts...

I really like this one too. It has become one of my faves since I started the W30. It's gorgeous the next day sliced in a salad too.

That looks good. I must make it during the week.

When I make it, I flatten the chicken fillets between two pieces of cling film by bashing them with a rolling pin. It makes them so much quicker to grill (I do them for 6 mins a side with my grill at 210 'C). I prefer thinner pieces of chicken anyway.

I made coleslaw for the party yesterday and it was FAB! I have never been a coleslaw fan but this was GOOD! I put it down to the mayo. I made more today to have with lunch. I am going to add more mustard to the mayo next time and also crush some garlic and let it sit in the oil for a few days before I make a new batch to get something approximating alioli.

I collected my pastured ground pork and 100% pork sausages at the party yesterday too. I can't wait to try the sausages. I had some yesterday with oats in them (and knew all about it last night).

Yes I like the proper coleslaw too, I did it with the finer grater on the food processor for a change.
Re the alioli I am thinking I will roast some garlic cloves to mellow them out next time I'm using the oven and mash them into the mayo....

Have forgotten to check in here! I'm doing well enough, am on step 5 now and have cut down big time on bread, only have about 4 slices of the mccambridge a day, that's good for me believe me! I'm still having porridge for breky during the week and eggs at weekend. Lunch is usually an egg with salad of beetroot, peppers, lettuce etc. Dinners are chicken/fish based with lots of veg. Still had my dark choc at the weekend with a couple of glasses of red. Feeling very much less bloated and definitely more energy. Regarding stock cubes I've been using the Kallo ones, is there an alternative?

Best alternative is make your own ;)

I have a slow cooker to make mine.
I buy whole chicken cut off the legs, wings, breasts and drop the rest into the slow cooker on high heat.
Fire some onions, garlic spices and herbs in.
Cant remember how long it takes, but i ussualy take that out after the meat around it is white and cooked, but also not too long that it falls apart trying to take it out.
You can strain it,let it cool and drop it into ice cube trays.that will keep in the freezer for a long time,i think up to 2 months.

Alternatively i just make soup from it :)
Least you know whats in it then and dont have to worry about any additives or wether its good for you.I presume the bone marrow etc is beneficial too.

I think it's an improvement, I think the whole potato/sweet potato thing is a bone of contention in the paleo/primal plan. Maybe someone more knowledgable can help....

@frag - you don't have to eat what I do! Just add more veg & fruit, and a good variety of it. Try some new things :)

It's been a while since I read the Paleo Diet book but I remember reading that the bog standard spud contains some chemical which can cause perferation of the stomach lining or something like that.

El_D had a good post about white potatoes don't know where it is but here's another I found. I don't think potatoes matter that much just as long as half your plate isn't full of them.
Oh lord! Potatoes do NOT give you leaky gut! Maybe if you injected them into your bloodstream. People, do NOT inject potatoes into your bloodstream, don't do it!

All plants contain scary sounding chemicals, but potatoes have been bred by humans to vastly reduce saponin content. Also then there's the slightly hormetic effect of low level exposure to toxins that is actually beneficial (that's how polyphenols work).

Potatoes are good eating, apparently they are the most filling of any starch. If your super-worried about saponins, peel them as 90% of the saponins are in the skin.

I'm growing my own potatoes in potato bags, dead simple to do and obviously no fertilisers/sprays! :D

Where do you keep them? I was looking at potatoes and strawberries the other day but I've no space for them, not yet anyway!

    Hi all,

After studying my diet closely for the past few weeks, I've discovered that dairy products and wheat do not agree with me. Dairy gives me a cough and sinus problems and wheat makes me feel bloated and lethargic. I googled for a bit and found this Paleo diet which I'd never really heard much about.

I've decided that I'd like to try it out and I'm not really sure where to begin. I've cut out dairy already but I would normally have eggs on wholegrain bread for breakfast, multigrain turkey roll for lunch and a chicken stir fry with rice for dinner.

I guess it's the bread that's the first thing I need to replace. Should I follow this thread (ie go week by week) or is there a better plan to begin with?

    Thanks.

    Whip

Hiya whip, glad you found us here. There are 2 choices, either the step by step as outlined in the first post or full on elimination & immersion as in the "whole30" (google will bring you to their site)

I did the stumptuous plan first and then after a month or so after the last step I did the w30 to weed out some more stuff.

The advantage of the w30 is you get the full whack of the changes you've made which is a powerful motivator.

I guess it's down to your own personality which is more suitable.

I was already dairy free for almost 4 years when I went paleo and I did it the Whole30 route. I cut dairy cold turkey at the time and it just made sense to do the Whole30. I have since done a second one (at the same time as DCD).

I think I have finally kicked the scale habit. I don't care what I weigh. My jeans fit, I am on the second smallest hole on my belt, I look good in my clothes and I am *starting* to look better naked, but I am also *starting* to be less concerned about how I look naked.

I have taken about 10 days off my workouts because I just wasn't feeling up to it. There has been a general malaise originating from nothing in particular. I am, however, ready to get back to work tomorrow! I want Summer arms next year and in order to have them I have to put in the work this year!

Cool, this is the one I want
    http://www.artisanafoods.com/products/coconut-butter

Freshly made from whole coconut flesh (not just the oil) and puree'd into a fiberous, densely nutritious spread. Our butter melts in your mouth with full coconut taste and aroma, while giving you the whole coconut nutrition: oil, dietary fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals.

Whereas the one you had boasted No coconut taste and aroma

    Weird eh?

You have seen my face a lot, just not irl :)

Off to Spain on Tuesday. Prepping for airport/travel. Putting together a paleo kit of my homemade jerky, macadamia nuts, well fed's spiced nuts and (Maybe?) jumbo yellow sultanas.
I also have to pack an evening meal as we fly at 6pm. My mother will have ham & cheese rolls ready for us when we arrive, haven't told her yet about the whole paleo thing. I'm sure there'll be some confrontation/irritation over the fortnight about my diet etc. Ho hum.
She is very odd with me re all thing weight related, she's like a teenage frenemy (roll eyes). I have clothes left over there from last summer and I said to her that they would be too big to which she said "sure the way you eat on holidays they won't be for long" nice!
