    A .22lr?

Add another 300,000 to that and maybe?

A .22lr if maintained properly will last your lifetime.

Whoever told you that must have had a steady diet of lead paint as a child. My target rifle's had probably between eight and ten thousand through it at this stage and it's got at least another fifty thousand to go before I even consider having a good look at it. Even at the very top level of competition, 30k would be a realistic bare minimum to expect of top-end life, and probably another hundred thousand as a spare barrel. In a hunting gun? You'll never, ever wear it out.

No need to go over board, but a rub down on the outsid everytime you go out, a cleaning of the barrel every few hundred rounds or every few weeks if its a hunter tyle rifle, as you will not fire as many rounds over the same time period as a target shooter.

Keep all the mechanical parts clean, and dirt, oil free. Service every couple of years.

Nothing overly fancy just general care, and upkeep. Remember that a .22lr is a soft bullet. Unlike copper jacketed C/F rounds they do no wear out the barrel, chamber throat of a rifle anywhere near as quickly as a fullbore.

Nope. The term is essentially irrelevant for hunting rifles in any case as you're talking about many thousands of rounds, and in a hunting rifle, you'll never know the difference on foxes between a rifle that shoots .75" groups and one that shoots 1.25" groups.

    No.

At least 3500 minimum barrel life. Without any hot loads up to and including 5,000+.

Another thing about barrel burners. Because the throat/chamber is showing signs of wear and tear unlike a target barrel you can go to a gunsmith, cut the barrel, and re-chamber and have another few thousand rounds with only a couple of hundred euro worth of work. You might loose between 1-2" of barrel during the process.

For a target rifle maybe not the best idea, but for a hunter where pinpoint precision every round is not a necessity then absolutely.
