I think this show is recorded but timed perfectly to ring in the New Year. I could be wrong but it was last year.

I love Hootenanny! its the only good thing about new year. didnt even consider putting on rte, especially when I say who was going to be on it.

God I love Ruby Turner...I swear her voice gets better every year.

Cyndi Lauper was great too... in fact the only ting I can foresee problems with is Jessie J and maybe she might come good.

Morrison can feck off AFAIC though.

Meh she sang the same last year... she has better songs tbh, bit mayhemed out at this stage.

Anyone see Aloe Blacc's set at glastonbury? Amazingly talented showman.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,666 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I thought that among Cyndi Lauper and Betty White, our Imelda came across as a bit dull and boring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭DeWitt

Has Imelda performed already? I'm just after flicking over.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

Yeah but she'll probably be back on for another tune later...at least she did last year.

[edit] Knew I knew the name...couldn't place who she was.
    Feckin' hell...64.

Show definitely must be recorded as Imelda has a NYE concert tonight
    http://www.theroyal.ie/december/31stimelda-may-nye.html

They must dish out some amount of drink to get that audience hyped up so much to pretend its really NYE.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

It was pre-record last year and two before that too. TBH getting all those big name people to turn up for NYE and the whole spectacle they put on, it's forgivable, like the polar bear cubs in the zoo.

They certainly get the atmosphere right... I think the music has as much to do with that as any the drink

Oh price tag...time for channel change.

Just can't warm to this doll, she comes across as very smug or something wish she would just sing the damn song properly!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,666 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Christ Jessie J and her one hit wonder, which is seriously grating considering we have heard it a million times in 2011.

Sooner she fades away the better.

Im preferring the more soulful performances of the night , instead of jesse, imelda etc. Good laugh watching the awkward guests trying to get their funk on on the dancefloor

Jools playing guitar now. What a legend. I bet he has great craic doing these shows. Though I'd say he made the blooper roll with his fall at the very start.

Quality show, so much better than going out.
