I am motivated by fcuk all, just the voices in my head tell me I should be doing more useful stuff. The voices win so I am somewhat gainfully passing my time.

The thought that there is so much to see, do, learn and experience in this world.

It takes 10,000 hours on average to master something. Most people never manage to truly master and gain supreme insight into even one thing in all their time on this planet.

I am currently working in sales and I love it. My people skills have always been lacking but I wake up looking forward to each day in my current job because I know it will make me a better person by making me better able to communicate and be closer to people.

I love my sports because it teaches me to master my body. It is like clay in my hands, I can do with it what I want. I can make myself 400 pounds and struggling to move, I can bulk up and become a tower of pure muscle, I can increase my agility and mobility and achieve the freedom to move through this world with ease.

I love to learn because knowledge is power. What mysteries and insights there are hidden away. The feeling I get when I learn something new is immense, I feel like I am one step closer to knowing the mysteries of life.

Each day is a new opportunity for me to learn about myself. To discover what makes me tick, what get's me up in the morning, what makes me happy, sad or mad. I look forward to what emotions, both good and bad, life will throw at me because it means I am still alive. I look forward to learning to be a stronger person, to be able to shape the world for the better and to learn to control my darker side.

As the song waving flags by K'naan puts it "When I grow older I will be stronger". I still have a long way to go but the thought that each day I am getting one step closer makes me smile.
    . I love you!

The fact that you could die tomorrow is motivation enough, don't put off until tomorrow what can be done today!

    What motivates me?
prejudice, stereotyping, disrespect - seeing how people harm others with their prejudices, seeing them restrict and limit other people by stereotyping them, seeing people treat others with utter disrespect - compels me to act and to keep going.

Rewards - I need them. Whether it's 30 mins of COD, a big glass of red or a movie - I need the promise of a gold star at the end to make me work!

The important people in my life. Their belief in me and their need for me to be happy makes me pull up my britches. I know my actions affect them - if I give up, it has negative consequences for them. I think of my Dad (now deceased) and I know he would hate for me to give up.

Hi all :-) just interested to know what gets you goin.. What makes you think "yes I can" I want to achieve lots in the new year I want to get in the right frame of mind! Also another question do you believe in the power of positive thinking and how has it worked for you?!? Thanks.

What motivates me is having a clear and obvious enemy that needs to be destroyed. It could be a person, it could be a bad habit, it doesn't matter.

    I like to win.

The belief that I will one day be an important journalist, like yourself. :pac:

Seriously? Bigotry and intolerance motivate me to kill them with kindness and reason. My personal motivation stems from wanting to reach my creative potential in writing and wanting to leave a little bit of a mark on the world.

So you are motivated by negative thinking?

    Neutral thinking.

But thats a lie, I like most people automatically drift off into negative thinking so I don't mind putting effort into positive thoughts.
Meditation is good to, just a case of being strict with myself.

In a terrible situation been here for about 4 years but I don't have to feel just as bad as a response its easier to fake a smile than embrace a frown - well that was cheesy. Yes it is cheesy..

Yes neutral thinking is what motivates me too.

Academically, what motivates me is success and learning. The feeling of receiving a great grade from a person who's practically an expert in their field, is absolutely joyous. You know that your hard work has paid off. Learning is a motivator that's almost based on the subconscious level. You're reading a book or an article and when you think, "interesting" or you want more, that's a motivating element.

Whenever I'm in a slump I come across a talk on the internet, a speech or a piece of intelligent debate and I'm sort of jolted out of the slump and return to work.

But probably the most basic motivator is knowing there's a deadline upcoming. You must have work done and you must hand it in. Personally, it's a case of just do it.

Then again, the strive for something close to perfection has its limits. It can affect you i.e. burnout. Doing too much or trying to hard without knowing your own limitations is soul destroying. Achieving that balance is a steep curve and only experience during it helps you prevent it.

Has the universe delivered your orders yet?
yes, it never fails although speed of delivery rates varies. Sometimes it's quicker than othertimes but then again it depends on how large the order is.

What motivates me otherwise is the desire not to feel disappointed with myself and the promise of fun.

People who go on about positive thinking are headwreakers. I don't mix well with people who can't join me for a good auld moan. They can feck right off.
