I'm no fashion guru, but does Angela Merkel get those awful clothes from a skip, I know she's a bit of a heifer, but she could at least make an effort to get a few jackets that would fit her.
Perhaps a few fashion tips from that classy Christine Legarde would help.

angela merkel and fashion, two words that really don't go together, she doesn't give a crap about fashion by the looks of it, or her hair or skin care - she's got bigger problems at the moment than caring what she looks like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,230 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

She was born and brought up in the former East Germany, where she had to wear a potato sack, so anything's high-fashioned after that.

Have you made similar threads for all the badly dressed male politicians?

Aren't Germans renowned for bad fashion and their inability to take over the world?

She's attractive in a Margaret Thatcher kind of way.

    Power is sexy after all.

As much as I hate feminists, they sort of have a point when an extremely intelligent female politician is discussed only for her appearance.

And of course, I'm sure you are all handsome people with amazing fashion sense.

I'd say she's pure filth in the sack.

Loves a good aul fist up her sloppy box while being rimmed.....

    I think I'll get sick now :(

It would be a valid point if a serious discussion about her was derailed by such comments but it was a joke thread to begin with.

Merkal and Cowen - not invited to burlesconi's bunga bunga parties! Ever!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,160 ✭✭✭Eurovisionmad

Ahhh she's like a big lovely teddy bear really!

Also Joes Higgins wins the award for worst dressed leader in the Dáil, (although he's not technically a leader as the Socialists run under 'collective leadership') and Jerry Adams the best I think, those scarves and jumpers go well!

Who says it's anything to do with her being a woman?

    Remember Bertie's yellow suit?

Funny, i was going to start a similar thread to the OP. Merkel does indeed look awful, those shirts she wears are like something from the 90s. And that crop top on her head is unforgivable.

You're missing the point. None of us are one of the most high profile politicians in the world today. Merkel is, and could put a little effort into how she dresses. My grand mother has more style! Throwing a few quid towards a fashion adviser is a must for Frau Merkel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,512 ✭✭✭Ellis Dee

I never thought I'd see "Angela Merkel" and "fashion" in the same sentence.:rolleyes:

But she's definitely one of those women* who would look better in a burka.:)

So you want her to actually waste time picking out dresses instead of thinking of ways to save the Euro?

This is how the Greeks, many of whom still remember when the Germans occupied their country, think that Merkel dresses. This is a recent Greek poster:

The way to save the Euro is clear.

This is one of the few crises where the solution was always clear from the outset.

I get the feeling that Merkel is picking out dresses when she ought, in fact,to be lobbying for Eurobonds and some monetization of debt as the de facto head of the Eurozone's political wing. There is no other way out of the crisis.
