Why did you reserve them in 2 batches of 4 laptops?

What was the point behind that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,977 ✭✭✭johnny_adidas

he wants some new friends for christmas

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,158 ✭✭✭Tayla

I don't think you do have to buy them in the batches of 4. The way it used to work was that if you only didn't buy all of the items that your code had reserved then the remainder would be released for anyone to buy but.....

I reserved some stuff recently during the 3 for 2 sale and I was picking items from certain reservations and mixing them with other reservations so I could save the maximum amount of money. I think they now have to manually cancel the reservation for the items you haven't bought rather than it happening automatically!

follow up posters, stop ****eing on about 'reserved in batches of 4' or not.
This is a bargain alert. not an etiquette page.

do you want one or not is the question you sad little saps? get a life.

All the OP wants to know is

    a - is it a good deal?
b - does anyone else want in on their generous gesture?
c - and they assume sad twerps won't be putting up pointless posts.

and don't bother to put in smart ass replies. i won't be acknowledging any.

Picked one of these up on Monday. Only reserved the one though :)

Good price and handy for a cheap laptop. Others shops in town had better (but dearer) models and this was ideal for a joint-present.

    Yes you will.

Ironic telling people to "get a life" when your the one getting your knickers in a twist about a thread on bargain alerts, which has nothing to do with you.

And how are we supposed to get one, when they are reserved in batches of 4?

Very strange indeed to reserve 2 lots of 4.

Is this a long term or temporary price?

Thanks OP, looks like a decent deal to me.

I think it's worth noting also that this is £350 on argos.co.uk which is about €35 more expensive :)

Also the equivalent laptop is a lot dearer on the Dell website.

There is a decent processor as a previous poster pointed out.

Also good memory and hard disk size.

Webcam and HDMI out are handy extras.

I bought one today, thanks to my brother who reserved one for me. Why the f*** block out 8? All you're doing is making people who check the argos site and turn up to a store expecting to pick up one of the 9 that were available yesterday, buy a more expensive, unreserved, laptop and increase the profit to argos. What are the chances you're going to get another 7 people agree to turn up at the same time? You're a greedy "%$£(*&^%&*

Do I have to provide any "extras" after the couple of beers to secure this beauty (and I don't mean you!)?

Has anyone tried calling Dell and asking them to beat the price/throw in some extras? They're very flexible this time of year.

I picked up 2 of these in Tullamore this evening.
Just to let people know and to avoid any potential disappointment :pac:, the model pictured in in the Argos ad is the Inspiron 15R. That's not the model in the offer though.
The one in the offer if the Inspiron 15 (N5040). Still ok value.
