Monthly DLC? This is how subscription based gaming starts. Still a map pack with some good maps would be brilliant. I was delighted when they released the COD4 maps for MW2 and be glad to see a few again as well as maybe a few MW2 maps. Some people might look at it as the easier option compared to designing new ones but if they're proven quality what's the harm?

Me personally, I'd much rather new maps than old ones! When Treyarc released the map packs on blops it was like a new lease of life for the game, cause we had something new to figure out, learn spawn points, all that kinda stuff.

If infinity ward just re-hashes old maps then its nothing new about the game.. The whole reason I get map packs is cause they have new maps, not old ones that I've already played, and if I really wanted to play maps from MW2 I would just put in the MW2 disk and play that game.

Defo don't want too see old maps again, that might be just my opinion, maybe someone will agree, I don't know..

Like I said that's just my opinion, I can definitely see the other side of the argument as well and of course I want to see new maps as well. Way I see it though is once you have the maps down and everyone knows what's going on,it's the quality maps you want to keep playing. This all just a matter of opinion anyway and I might be in a tiny minority for all I know.

IW said they would be releasing 20 items of dlc over a 9 month period so im gonna guess you'll see the start of it around January.

20 items of DLC over 9 months? Roughly how much dya think each item of DLC will cost?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,765 ✭✭✭DaveNoCheese

Id imagine it would be 1200MSP/15 Euro for 5 maps.

I got the hardened edition for the extra 50 squids so it will eventually pay off for me

We all want new maps one way or another but everybody has favourites from the previous games that they'd like to see again. If you get 4 new maps and 1 classic, its a win in my opinion!

We already have 16 maps so there shouldn't be a need for new ones. Pity about 14 of them are crap

4 new maps and a classic MW2 one would be cool, terminal! kill confirmed on that would be awesome.

They weren't going to pay for a 3 year deal for nothing. The way they dodged the question in the run up to release aswell made it obvious. PS3 premium members are going to be a long way behind xbox premium members in terms of dlc.

The elite website is so crap I can't even find the video on the new maps they keep advertising. Why in hell have an ad for a video, when clicking on the ad just brings you to another ad for the same video?

The screenshot of Park looks like it has No Mans Land on it according to that sign in the shot, the red areas, like in Berlin Wall.

Found this, not sure what to make of it. Source here
A Reddit user, Fury Hunter, has apparently found a new Modern Warfare 3 map called “coast”. The map screenshot is from an early development stage, and it could be included in later Modern Warfare 3 map packs.

    mw3-coast.jpg
The user also discovered loading screens of maps “Strike and Crossfire” which were from Call of Duty 4. There is another map screenshot that was found that was originally called “Plaza”, however it has been renamed to Arkaden in Modern Warfare 3.

    Bobby, the story is done.

I dunno they could add in missions set during MW3's campaign, like more US based Russian invasion stuff in other cities aside from NY, I thought it could have done with one more big battle in the States since its just the first two levels that have it.

Could be a prequel mission, set back before COD4 maybe, more insight into Price. Better be feckin' epic either way :D

So what the hell only two maps, one for
Snipers and one that is the same as all other map in the game already. So will this be like 1,200 Microsoft points. Is there going to be any more to the DLC, and can people that did not join sh*t elite get these on the 24 Jan, as u can see I have an Xbox and don’t Xbox get all DLC before playstation.

Ahhh so mad only two maps, they are really trying to get people to give up on this game

Those two maps are for elite premium members, normal members can't get them until a whole map pack is released in March - which will consist of maybe 6 maps??

I'd say 4 maps and 2 spec ops missions is more likely. That way they don't have to design too many maps, just take parts from them.

    PS3 DLC season begins 28th February -

Good news for PlayStation fans: the first two Modern Warfare 3 content drops are coming this month and a new Title Update is just around the corner.

Fourzerotwo has confirmed via his Twitter account that the Modern Warfare 3 downloadable content season for PS3 will begin on 28th February, over a month later than the Xbox 360 equivalent. The release date has been a confusing subject within the past few weeks. With Microsoft and Activision's timed exclusive contract still in progress since it first began with Modern Warfare 2, many users wondered when the DLC would drop for PlayStation Network players who are also Premium members on Call of Duty Elite.

Those questions have finally been answered, however. Based on today's news, it would appear that Xbox LIVE members who are Premium on Elite will get the content drops first each month until the DLC season's conclusion in September, while PSN Premium members will get it a month later up until around October. Non-premium members on Xbox LIVE will be able to download the first bundle pack in March which contains the content that has been released for Premium members so far. It's probably safe to expect this bundle to be available for PlayStation 3 and PC a month later in April.

It was announced today that PS3 Premium users will receive their first two content drops on Tuesday, 28th February, which they will be able to download for free in the game's "Store" menu. The DLC will feature the same maps as the Xbox 360 version; Piazza and Liberation.

Although the schedule is similar to previous titles, even though it is now split-up more to accommodate Premium and non-premium members, some users are still disappointed. PlayStation Network users who paid the same price for a Call of Duty Elite Premium subscription as Xbox LIVE members will feel letdown due to still having to wait an extra month, although this may even out once both sets of Premium members are still receiving new content to master each month. PC users on the other hand will be disappointed that their platform currently isn't supported by Elite, meaning they are unable to join in on the content season until the bundles are available for everyone.

In other news, a long-awaited Title Update for the PlayStation 3 version is set to deploy in the early hours of the morning at 2AM according to fourzerotwo. The update will include "improved voice chat quality, theater fixes, weapon rebalances.

EDIT: Source is Digital Warfare 24/7
