Tried a scan on my lidl box last night to no avail. Nothing coming up bar Channel 5 which I already had.

I'll give it a go again later on tonight. Any ideas why it didn't show up?

What model Lidl box do you have? What kind of scan (maybe preset or auto) did you do?

Might be best just to manually enter the transponder parameters for the 'new' channels.

Chances are the Lidl box doesn't have the new transponder settings and will need them entered manually

I think these channels are DVB-S2 and the Lidl box is only DVB-S.

Does it have the HD channels (BBC1 HD, BBC HD and Ch4 HD) on it already? If not, it is not DVB-S2.

    Sorry.

I think these channels are DVB-S2

    5*, 5 USA & Channel 5 +1 are DVB-S: on Astra 1N; 10965 mHz, horizontal polarity, SR 22000.

I stand corrected. I thought all the new channels were DVB-S2. Obviously not then.

They're not new channels, they were moved to Astra 1N (more restricted reception footprint, supposedly) & encryption (Sky) removed.

I know it's new transponder space but they hardly want to lose their non-S2 viewers for a while yet.

Using a storm box that didn't have the setting included, manually tuned and all good. why are the four Channel 5 stations not in sync? and are there any other channels on this Astra 1N?

Here is what's on Astra 1N atm.

The out of sync channels are afaik, to aid with efficiency in encoding. Something to do with statistical multiplexing (stat muxing) & variable bit rate (vbr) ... Spreading the load, I suppose.

I have no idea what any of that means, but i did google afaik. you learn something new everyday.

i'd probably tell people that the signal takes longer to travel to scotland than england therefore it is broadcast that split second before... so they are all in sync if u watch the proper regional chanel in the right location :D

I only have the most basic understanding myself. Seems to be that not having all the regions showing exactly the same thing at exactly the same time helps to even out peaks & troughs in demand for transponder bandwidth.

I could of course be talking nonsense ...

Presumably the only difference in Channel 5 regions is the ads?

Anyone get these new channels working with their Hauppauge Nova dvb-s2 card? Keeping an eye on Digital Spy and the Hauppauge forums but there anything coming up. Have tried full transponder and single transponder scans other the frequencys noted above but no joy. Anyone?

Tuned the channels in, using MP, but when I goto view them it tells me they're encrypted???? Except for 5+1. And these are the ones on 10964

    Got it,

In MP channel list, select the channels, right click and edit, in the edit window select the channel and edit, click the Free To Air checkbox and voila they work

    Hi folks.

I'm having similar problems on a Lidl Silvercrest satellite receiver. Channel 5 +1 is coming in fine but none of the others.

    It's a Silvercrest SL 80/2 100CI

You need to add the transponder - since astra 1n went up 5* 5USA and there +1's are on a new transponder

Its 10964.00H - think there is an option on most lidl/silvercrest boxes to add a new transponder - just enter the figure above and set it for H as opposed to V in the polarization - that will do it for sure - alternatively you could try a blind scan - but adding the transponder and manually scanning said transponder will get them easier

Sic semper tyrannis - thus always to Tyrants

Thanks. Sorry about the late reply. I didn't get a chance to check that. I had a go now and am still only getting Ch5 and its +1. I'll have a better look at it tomorrow.

The other channels are coming with an encrypted flag on my Sony sat TV - had to scan for pay TV channels before they were found and installed. Can you try scanning for encrypted/pay TV services on that transponder?

That worked a treat. Thanks a million.
