Hopefully it goes on the Freesat EPG.

    Scheduled for December 8th, apparently.

Channel 5+1 joins the Freesat EPG on Tuesday 6th December 2011.

    5 USA, 5 USA+1, 5* and 5*+1 join the Freesat EPG on Thursday 8th December 2011.

Channel 5 HD rumoured to be launching on Freesat in Summer 2012.

nothing showing on my EPG either but Channels 5 website gives a 7 day EPG if you click on the channels name.

Not getting anything either when I rescan or manually enter the freq:confused:

Is this only on Sky recievers or freesat?

EDIT: Scanning 10964 2200 H is showing up CH5+1 but encrypted?

I get it on Freesat set to non freesat mode.
it is DVBS and QPSK as well as the other parameters if that is of any use?
    source: Kingofsat.

Thanks for the tip OP,i had them tuned in and was tired looking at a black screen!:)

They won't be added to the actual EPG until Tuesday and Thursday respectively, on those dates the 7 day EPG will be mapped to them for Freesat and Channel 5+1 will go FTA.

Freesat requires that new channels test broadcast for a week before they get added to the EPG

Some Racing Channel is coming next.

Still getting nothing on a manual tune using a Goodmans Sat4free box (GSAT200HDEX)

    Anyone any ideas?

Closest I can get is CH5+1 to show, but says 'Chanel Encrypted'...

Think it's showing up as 7720.

Still can't find them on a Goodmans GT100SD.
My Nikia Mediamaster FTA box can tune them - but says they are encrypted and won't display.

I guess it will all sort itself out by next week...

I can only suggest that people who are not receiving the channels read the manual they should find if they Google their receivers name.
also check if a software upgrade may be available.
it is only 5+1 that is not yet Free To Air ,the rest are FTA on Humax or in my case an LG7700 TV with built in Freesat.
the channels have no EPG, not even now/next in non freesat mode ATM but for those who cannot wait try the Channel 5 website for all three channels 7 day guide until they show up on the Freesat.:)

    Indeed.

Tempted as I am to use this new-fangled Google device of which you speak to obtain the complicated instruction manual for my el-cheapo known-to-be-dodgy Goodmans GT100SD, I instead rely on my fading memory that tells me it does not have any facility for manual seeking of Freesat channels (it does allow tuning of non-Freesat channels, but with no facility of choosing an appropriate FEC). There is a possibility of doing a complete "initial install" but that would wipe all my carefully gathered and pruned Non-Freesat channels which would be a pain in the bum.

As for software updates - I think they stopped doing software/firmware updates for the Goodmans/Bush/Grundig/"Harvard" boxes about, oh, 1900.:)
A lot of folk had bad experiences the last time they updated the software so....

AFAIK you can't enter the FEC - it's automatic on these cheaper boxes (Goodmans/Grundig/Bush "Harvard" boxes).

Seem us poor folks with cheapo receivers will have to wait until it goes official on Tuesday and Thursday - when I expect the EPG wil be expanded to show these channels and (I hope) will kick the box into setting the FEC correctly. Right now even though the channels are being transmitted in the clear, the flag that tells the box that they are unencrypted and are part of Freesat is NOT set - which is why some people on the thread can see them and others can't. (I am able to watch them on another FTA (non Freesat) box I have - though it tells me I need a card (I don't), and they won't show up if I set the menu to "display FTA Only").
    Have patience, Grasshopper!

You will not be able to manually tune in these channels on Goodmans box or any other harvard box. When a channel is preparing to launch on freesat and freesat epg is transmitting on channel it is not possible to add it manually.
    They will appear on 8th..

Edit. Launch date for 5USA AND FIVE* on freesat has changed. They are now launching on 6th Dec., Same date as 5+1.

Channels are all now FTA and should be on the EPG for Freesat viewers anytime now.

I have asked a moderator to update the FTA Tuning Sticky to reflect all of the recent frequency changes.

    cool, thanks for posting OP

Channels are now live on the Freesat EPG, so if you have a Freesat box or a Sat4Free box, do a retune and you should pick them up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,905 ✭✭✭steveon

CH5+1 can now be added using the same frequency...happy days...
