    Apparently getting launched today, just checked app store and the app was there but wouldn't download and now has disappeared

    It doesn't seem to be the most user friendly system in the world. It's all a bit WAP, allows you to choose what box you want to record to and also if you want to set it as high priority (supersed any current recording)
    When the app becomes available it should be easier to use. Functional if not pretty

    I have a ?Polish version of the app that was available some time ago. It's very user friendly!! Hopefully will be available soon

    You need to login to Myupc first ...

    I just logged in and it could see my 3 Boxes .. I had to refresh each box as they were not contactable, but now I can record on each box ..

    For me , I just need to remember which box is where ..

    Android customers can use this service by visiting the site: m.tv-guide.upc.ie. An App will be developed for android handsets in 2012.

    iPhone app still not in store. It was iPad native too when it was there... I wonder why it was taken down? And when searching in the app store (either iPhone or iPad) once I press the space key after UPC I am automatically prompted with UPC Remote Record but get no search results.

    Even the dropdown prompt has now disappeared from the App Store search box, which I suppose makes sense considering the app isn't there.

    Strange.

    Yes,logged in and got it to record a show,just to check if it worked as
    planned,had no problems.

    I got it working from the website alright, & works fine.

    I was on to UPC about a billing query & asked the rep about the iPhone/iPad app. She said there was a problem with it, but that there was a link on the UPC website to download it from there.

    I found the link on THIS PAGE but it is a link to the US Store & even signing in with a US account the app doesn't exist. I got on to technical support & was told that it would be a couple of days before the app is available on the App Store.

    Logged in, and as above had to refresh to contact box. Set a recording no problem. Will see if it records later.

    I would not have known about this great function if it wasn't for this forum

    One great point to make, the recordings are instant. I was able to set a recording on a show which had already started and it started recording immediately. Very nice.

    Ever think they'll truly ever remote record for us, so we don't save anything, just stream on demand. That would be perfect, would allow for instant rewind if you've missed the start etc. Okay I'm getting carried away, but I can dream!

    Some downsides. 1. No series link. 2. It isn't aware of what's set up on your media box already, therefore you can wipe out a recording already happening. 3. You can't control recordings pending if set on the media box, only recordings pending set via the web. 4. You can't sort out clashes manually.

    Oddly the mobile website gives better functionality IMHO compared to the desktop version.

    But a great first release.

    Weird one happening with hd box since used remote record. now when i set anything to record through remote record or directly through box it shows up in the planner as recording in tv planner and mini guide but there's nothing listed in my recording. Pausing live tv still works so i know its not the hard drive. I've even turned the box off for 5 mins and set the box back to factory settings yet still no joy actually getting programs to really record instead of pretending to do so. anyone ever had this problem happen to them or any suggestions on what to do? Only want to call customer service as a last resort. As said only been happening since started using remote record. Thanks in advance for an suggestions.

    if its not in my recodrings how can you watch it?

    how do you kn ow if it is recorded?

    The recording icon appears in the tv planner and mini guide. but when you go in my recordings its not there. Recording icon even shows up on the front display of the box itself. im completely baffled

    I don't have an Android or iPhone (only a Nokia 5800) but it worked perfectly when set over the web on a PC.

    Anyone able to run the iPhone app on a network and have wireshark or ettheral or something running on a PC? Be interesting to see if they are using an optimized API, could start working on apps for various sources then.

    Hard drive had no recordings on it 100% free space was showing up. good news is did a factory reset again and all is working again properly. back to being a happy customer :-)

    They have reatart TV already elsewhere in europe which is to be deployed in ireland also sometime in 2012 apparently your little dream will come through. How much content will be made available on demand is the big question but the popular stuff like eastenders will next to deffo be avaialble.

    So it appears from other threads, that UPC wil add the other ITV's and more HD channels this year and next. They have introduced remote record (of sorts) along with 100mb broadband now, plan to bring in VOD and their Horizon box next year and could possibly introduce new broadband speeds. This could mount a serious challenge to Sky. In order to catch up completely they need to fix up their MMDS mess and expand on their cabled areas.

    Can access it from the web on my PC, recording set no problem.

    Also looked at the mobile website http://m.tv-guide.upc.ie on my iTouch but the time is an hour ahead, it's like as if I had moved to France, e.g. a program starting at 8 p.m. tomorrow is listed as 9 p.m. on the mobile website and there's no setting I can see within the UPC mobile website for time zone so it should be picking up from iOS that I'm on GMT??

    Although the times are incorrect on the listing, if I set a recording from the iTouch, the correct time for the particular program is sent to the DVR.

    You can't use the website to cancel a recording and if you manually cancel it using the remote control, the program is still listed as a pending recording on the website so there is no update pulled from the DVR when you go to the remote record website. When you set a program to be recorded, it's sent as a 'push' notification to the DVR and that's the end of it. Only recordings stored remotely are listed on the website so you can't tell if you have already (manually) stored a program to be recorded at the same time and neither can you tell if you or someone else hasn't manually removed any or all of your remotely stored recordings.

    They seriously need to do a 'pull' from the DVR so that the website and the iPhone/Android apps list all pending recordings.

    Hold on a minute. These people are customers (like myself) and are entitled to point out any deficiencies. In the main this thread has been complimentary.

    Get off your high horse.

    It is good enough for me, it's probably not good enough for people with Sky who, if they own an iPhone will wave the function (remote record) at you in the pub to show how Sky is superior to UPC.

    If the website can send a 'record' signal to the DVR, there's no reason why it can't interrogate the machine to get a listing of the planned recordings and show it to you on the website or the iPhone app when they release it.

    As the previous poster has pointed out, we are entitled to highlight deficiencies in any new service, that's the whole point about feedback, to which hopefully UPC are listening.

    Possible a reverse path filter on the drop would be my guess if it is a two way network.

    I couldn't get it to work.

    I tried the 15 min standby and everything in between to a factory reset.

    Called UPC and they told me that I need to have the box in standby for it to work. Put box in standby and had a shower, came back out and still not recording. This was all done on my HTC Desire.

    Just logged into the "Remote record" website on a PC and had some pop up windows to click through. The TV guide on the site is showing it as recording,

    Tried to set a new recording on my phone and it's accepted it

    Hopefully it'll have worked but won't know till I get home.

    Edit.

    Both programmes recorded :-)

    Is anyone able to make the iTunes app available external to iTunes? I wanna look at making something similar for android and I wanna see if their API is open.

    When I called UPC they mentioned that the iPhone app wasn't working yet.

    I assume they will be launching an android app shortly, but this is UPC so not sure.

    It does delete your schedule, I keep forgetting when I factory reset and end up missing stuff.
