ah for f*ck sake....i hope the club is made to pay every cent of that fine, the attitude of some of the people supporting the club is disgusting.

It's shameful for the Corofin higher-ups to be contesting the fine, indeed I'd wish failed appeals would automatically increase the fine/ban being contested.

There's far too much disregard for rulings and attempts to circle the wagons on something wrong just to shave off a few Euro or a few days, it usually just ends up highlighting how many clubs, counties and players have disregard for the rules of the game. Same goes for most other sports too, sadly.

In Hogan Stand and todays papers they are appealing.Does that mean they feel the same way???

cant understand why. the clubs supporters attempted to attack the ref after the game, and it was shown live on TV. No denying what happened. Take your punishment

It's a bit of a grey area. How do you know they were club supporters? Were they actually paid-up club members? Maybe they were just rabble-rousers? Can you fine an amateur group affiliated to an amateur organisation on this basis? If so, can / could Louth have been fined in the wake of the '10 Leinster final? What's the difference?

As a matter of interest what did louth get fined?

The old excuse of nothing would have went wrong if others did things right. Corofin should name & shame those fans that surrounded the ref & make sure they are not allowed to see any more games.

It was reported on another forum that some of those seen around the referee after weren't even from Corofin

I cant see a grey area, guys attempting to attack the ref were wearing the corofin colours and a green wig! doesnt matter if they are club members or not, your supporters attempt to attack a ref, the club pays the price.

Pretty sure the can, a personal injoury calim can be taken against a club, so why not a fine? I think lough were fined, as were the tyrone clubs involved in the brawl on the pitch and stands a few weeks ago

Angry Corofin push for changes to provincial venues and referees

    By John Fallon

    Thursday, December 15, 2011

COROFIN have taken a swipe at the Connacht Council and the referee of the provincial final which led to the club being fined over €5,000.

They have tabled motions for tonight’s Galway county board convention, looking for changes to be made regarding venues and the experience of referees.

The Galway champions, who are still deciding whether to appeal the increase this week in the fines dished out by the Connacht Council, want a ban on clubs hosting provincial games.

Their controversial Connacht final against St Brigid’s took place at the Roscommon club’s grounds at Kiltoom, which is a venue which had county status.
Corofin, who had a player and selector banned for a month and had their fines increased on appeal this week by €500 to €5,600, say that no team should play a provincial championship match on their home ground regardless of the county status of the ground.

Corofin have also tabled a motion regarding the status of referees, having been critical of the experience of Mayo official Liam Devenney who was in charge of their controversial Connacht final last month.

"They should have, as an absolute minimum, refereed a senior club championship final in their home county," says the motion.

they were happy enough for the home and away arrangement for the last few years, and now they want it changed? and then going on about the ref? good to see they accepted some blame for the incidents after so. delighted their fine was increased after appealing it.

I started this tread im not a member of corofin club I was at the match and believe wrong decisions were made by the ref on the day. To call people animals is way and out wrong in the season of Christmas and indeed anytime. While I cant condone what happened at or after the game, I can certainly understand the frustration of people who witnessed the game. Its over and done.
    Happy Christmas :D

Time to get sarcastic . I'd say homerjay2005 is the individual in his/her club thats out every Saturday morning with the under 8 kids no matter what the weather.they also go around selling the club lotto twice a week and they wash and dry the team jerseys whenever its required .they don't mind lining the pitch if any game is being played. All in all they probably volunteer a minimum of 20 hrs a week (without getting paid). They have no problem been called an animal and they will be one of the first to put their hand in their pocket and contribute to any fines the club gets. A true clubman/woman.Happy Christmas
