Gun stock refinishing

    I have a Heym SR 21 rifle. The stock is standard factory type. The finish is not very smooth and my stubble beard gets caught in it and it bugs the f****** life out of me.

    If I look closely the stock it has lots of tiny holes which is the standard finish.
    Whats the best way to retreat it to a smooth finish??
