So, PS3 day one purchase it is then, not gonna hang around for a PS4 version. Sounds like PC'ers are screwed for the time being.

"We don't have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now."

How long would 8gigs usually take to install on a ps3??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 805 ✭✭✭xerces

For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.

    :)

Yea it would seem the multiplayer is a whole separate entity by the way they are phrasing it. Rather than GTAV Multiplayer, they are giving it the separate title of "Grand Theft Auto Online". This suggests that we are going to see a significant multiplayer game.

If I remember correctly, both Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear Solid 5 had a required install of about 5gb which took about 20 minutes. So I'd say you could almost be looking at half an hour. I could definitely be wrong though.

Definitely good news for 360 owners. I was sure the multiplayer would end up being on a separate disk. An installation disk though is a great solution.

    Excellent news. Smart move.

Can I just ask, can I play GTA V with just the standard memory cards, or will I have to purchase a HDD?

One big change though with this game is that with a world of this size, we created a double-sided map based poster to make sure players have all the information they might need to discover and explore the world
I know we know the world is massive, but hearing it described as so big it needs two pages is jizz worthy.

How do you mean? What system do you have (PS3 or 360) and what size is the hard drive in it? If it's (for example) a 4gb Xbox 360 then you'll need to have a memory stick plugged in (probably 16gb to be on the safe side but they're cheap enough now anyway) and install it to that. You'll have to make sure the memory stick is formatted correctly first though (easy enough to do from your computer)

It's an Xbox 360 Arcade from '09 and I don't have a HDD for it, just standard memory cards.

I'm guessing you'll probably need a HDD since the installation disc is 8gb.Unless you have a 16gb card or something.

You could always go for the flashdrive option?

That's one thing i'm really looking forward to.Ever since i've heard that there will be an "economy" in the game it's made me excited to be able to spend my money rather than having millions with nothing to do with.

And weapons. It would be great if you could have a vast amount scopes on snipers.

I just hope with the car customisation, we have garages to store the cars in. :P

And I don't want a crappy Saints Row or Sleeping Dogs garage, I want a GTASA garage that I can walk around in!

I was going to type "Seriously, the first thing I'm going to do in the game is get a car and customise it and cruise around!", but then I remembered I've already said on the thread that the first thing I want to do is go and find Grove Street... :o

The more I think about this game, and the fact that we're just over 2 months away now, I'm getting really excited again. :D

Yeah, you'll need at least a 16gb USB stick.

This page details how to format a USB stick to work on an Xbox (make sure nothing is saved on the stick first or it'll be deleted)
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/accessories/usb-flash-drive

If the install is 8gb, you should get a 16gb, or maybe even a 32gb USB stick as the prices aren't that much greater. You'll be able to save the installation data on it and will have to have it plugged in to play GTAV

Are you better off with a flash drive or buying a HDD?

Anyone know where to buy cheap HDD's for the original XBox 360. Think mine is 4gb so I might aswell pick up a bigger one for GTAV

So have people ordered this game yet? I would imagine there will be ques miles long outside every story that sells this games. People will be queuing for days for this game.

It'll be anarchy on the streets. I'm going to be a little smarter and wait for the dust to settle before I get it myself.

I preordered it in GameStop in Cavan town, the Special Edition. Dying to get my hands on it! I'll be back at college at that stage though, and it's been ages since I preorded software at GameStop, does anyone know if I can pick it up at GameStop in Galway instead?

Pre-ordered the Collectors Edition off Rockstar themselves. I said this elsewhere the other day, but I've no need or use for hat or the safety deposit bag and am still getting it. No major want for the DLC either. The blueprint map is the one thing I really want, and yes I can get that with the Special Edition, but GTA games aren't exactly annual/bi-annual games so may as well splash out. I just have to buy the Collectors :p

I just pre-ordered the Special Edition from game.co.uk for £55.
Can't wait for it now! :pac:

I only preordered it to get the blimp. I really want that blimp :(

I think i may actually make a pre-order in a smaller branch than i have placed my current pre-order (i've only paid a fiver anyway),might save a bit of queue time and add to the "journey".

The 17th will be one of the greatest day ever.

Just preordered it there finally. Special edition.

I've never pre-ordered a game (well since CM2 on the Amiga - which never came out and so I lost the money!) but I'll be pre-ordering this. Would usually shop around but with a limited number of places to buy from this time I just don't think it's worth the hassle so I'll be looking for somewhere to pre-order from shortly.

I'm certain that the last game that I pre-ordered was in fact GTA IV :)

Will it not be a first for R*, if they actually give us a gameplay trailer?
