I went out this morning to check on my magpie traps and got a pleasant surprise. A dog fox had got in and had a feast on three birds that were in the trap. At least he went to his happy hunting grounds with a full belly.
He made sh1t out of the wiring on the inside of the trap and i am going to have to rewire it.

It's a wonder he didn't eat his way out. Still waiting to catch one in any of my Larsens, mind you, if I had them set it might help :pac:

Why don't you have a word with the neighbour first ?

Poison is now illegal for use except as covered bait for rodents - I suggest you call the dog warden if you having trouble like this or contact the local gun club.

    Yeah - DON'T.

There are guidelines, and steps to follow to remove a dog, and most of them only cover those worrying livestock. Anything else and you fall foul of animal cruelty laws.

Talk to the neighbour. If that fails then contact the dog warden.

    MOD NOTE.

No more discussions on methods for poisoning family pets or strays please. This is not the Animal and Pet issue forum, and such talk is neither appropriate nor wanted here.

Sorry, but i thought they were fair game, especially as the neighbour didn't even license the mutt. BTW, i did have words with my neighbour but to no avail, also contacted the warden, no comeback on that either. Anyway, i'll think of something.

    You thought wrong.

As to your reason(s) for posting about issues you are having with a neighbours pet on a HUNTING forum, well we'll leave that for now.

A reminder that this line of conversation/posting has no business here so NO MORE posts on the matter. Anything further will be removed, and the user will face infraction.

i have had this problem over the years but they were able to tear their way out through the light chicken wire. i have now reinforced all the outside wire with stronger stuff.

How'd u manage 2 in 1 side!! They must of either jumped in together or 1 dropped the door after was set off. Either way good result!

People should make chicken coops as strong as those traps and let the foxes eat rats and things.
Do foxes kill game much, yeah?
