It's like a preliminary opening total for the comp, but your opening weights at the competition must be within 20kg of the numbers you provide for the competiton entry (I think) so you can't put down 400kg as a total and on the day open with 375.

Neil is more focused than I've seen him in a long time, very excited to see what he pulls out of the bag. Very disappointing that Kevin Darcy wasn't able to make this, fingers crossed he'll be able to commit to it next year with even bigger numbers.

I think you can still catch him. Maybe.

Vid from last year but he looks good

There's also one of a possible 205 snatch. Hard to see the plates.

    A few of Rybakov too.

    Better get Qatari citizenship so.

I think each nation can set their own qualifying standard. Ireland's is about 350 sinclair or something for 77's.

    More around 330 I thought?

Was talking to Wayne last night at training, and he said that Qatar always send a couple of useless lifters so that the officials can go on a jolly! :D

Aramnau out too? He's gone from the list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Damn. I think Dolega is out too, he had shoulder surgery about 10 days ago according to IWF news, so it looks like Klokov vs Akkev for 105s. I reckon g'em is distraught at the prospect of them duking it out :P

Mens 56kg starting at 20.00 (presumably frog time) so about 25mins. Don't think eurosport is carrying it live though. CCTV5 is at sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/6002 (need sopcast player) but I'm not sure if they're carrying it live either

Got 114, missed 116, seems to have weighed in light enough (75kg)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭Molly

    114/142 for a 256 total

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Apparently he timed out in the 146kg lifts, Neil said on the interwebz that it looked like a shoulder injury

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

77kg A session was pretty damn good. Wimminz 75kg is on at 6. Might have a battle between Podobedova and that Russian bird

    Edit: 75kg Wimmins was awesome!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭Molly

Watched mens 77kg last night, was excellent. I was very surprised at the number of missed lifts though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

105s were awesome! Supers tomorrow, Salimi apparently did 200-250 in the training hall, cleaned 255 as well so he's in good shape to wreck some records
