I work on behalf of a government service. I work Monday - Friday 9-5 and have all public holidays, all paid for :P Pity the work itself is soul crushing!

bank holidays are meaningless, I'm always working them.

I can easily go through a pack of crackers in an hour provided I have a tub of hummus. In fact, I just did :o

    Damn Tesco Houmous!

They used to do this amazing hummus in their Finest range and I haven't seen it in MONTHS! It was humous with lemon and some butterbeans and salsa on top. Was DIVINE in sandwiches.

Has anyone tried the new Alpro coconut milk? It's a mix of coconut and rice milk, way nicer than the kara/koko one.

Tesco onion hoummous is the business, I've had that posted over to me before :D

I saw that alpro coconut in the shops here, might try it next time.

Hummus is just...the best. But I'm not a massive fan of the different TYPES of hummus, with flavours and whatnot, they just never seem as good as plain old hummus done right. I love the Tesco Organic one, it's yum.

Zaytoons hummus is also delish. With their grilled veg dish.

I find the hoummous at home much nicer than here. Does anyone have any good recipes for hoummous or any kind of flavoured hoummous, I think I need to stop buying crap stuff and make it myself

I've found this quite helpful in terms of rough quantities for flavours. My next experiment is to make hummus with black beans as i had that once in the states years ago and it was delish, but i've never tried to make my own

Don't forget the snakes used in terrorist attacks, as seen in the documentary "Snakes On A Plane"

:( When you think about all the atrocities we've committed against animals (and other humans) its enough to really get you down.

I can honestly say I feel very little warmth towards the human race as a whole.

Big shout out to all the animal astronauts we obliterated in space as well

Isn't it a bit anti-vegan to join in on the celebrations?

That's quite simplistic, if anything participation has far more affect than segregation.

I like it coz it has that fishy taste, but the texture etc isn't like fish. but fishy tasting tofu in batter is still nice to me :D

I wouldn't really recommend it if it hadn't been that long since you had fish though coz you're gona be disappointed.

But I am addicted to chickpea tuna now, I cannot stop making that. And that really tastes like tuna to me.

It's pretty strange to say that I, a vegan, am anti-vegan if I enjoy the taste of fish.

If it is fish n chips day, then I like to be able to show people that you don't have to kill someone for taste, and you can also be vegan and not miss out on things that non-vegans enjoy. That's sorta one of the main reasons it took me a while to switch from veggie to vegan, I thought oh but what about chocolate and sweet things, all the good stuff is gone, but that's not true. You can pretty much make anything vegan.

    Raw Donuts!

This looks very simple and delicious for someone that has limited cooking facilities ....... I have an oven, but it's in the post office, I'm too scared to try bring it home on the bike, I purposely ordered it online so this wouldn't happen >.<

I wasn't saying it was anti-vegan about to liking the taste.

I just thought that "celebrating" the event is sort of supporting the whole idea of mass consumption of fish.
If it is fish n chips day, then I like to be able to show people that you don't have to kill someone for taste, and you can also be vegan and not miss out on things that non-vegans enjoy.

That's a fair point, I wasn't looking at it that way.

To be clear, im not a vegan, or a veggie. For some reason these sort of quandaries pop into my head a lot. If I post something like that, i'm not in any shape trolling, i'm genuinely at the way a vegan/veggie would look at the situation.

Most of the time, I don't post and keep these thoughts to myself as I think there's little chance of actual discussion, and i'll just look like i'm trolling.

If I was actually supporting fish and chips then, then ye fair point. But I just saw the thread in after hours, came over and mentioned it here. I didn't post in after hours saying everyone go out and eat fish n chips today, and I didn't come here and say wooo happy fish n chips day everyone \o/ I pretty non-nonchalantly said oh apparently it's fish n chips day to a bunch of veggies and vegans in the off-topic thread! Ya know? And I'm not even in Ireland right now so it wasn't like I was telling people around me it's fish n chips day, and then that might spur them to go get some. Support primarily comes from your wallet anyway, that's what makes a difference.

Tbh I really thought very little about the day or about the extra fish that would get eaten that day. It just made me remember some of the 'fish' recipes I put in the DIY thread recently and it was just motivation to try them. It's hard for me to be motivated to make anything when I'm just cooking for myself :D

And you can post away ofc, this place is for discussion, I want people to post here, even if they think the question is stupid, I want people to understand it. I mean it does no good to be in here preaching to the choir, I am interested in hearing from non veggies/vegans. But you also have to remember there are primarily veggies and vegans here so this is the last place we need to be offended. So if you're asking something like that, maybe try to explain your thought process, what way is it supporting it. Otherwise, naturally enough it looks like someone just stepped in with the intent to judge or is just trolling like you say. I didn't jump to that assumption myself, but I didn't answer fully at first because I really didn't understand what you meant.
