You rarely see journos getting attacked, it's ideologues masquerading as journalists that are getting all the stick. Fox only hires them.

Exactly, the guy politely and articulately expressed his opinion.

    End.

Whatever about the Entertainment side but the news is driven by right-wing Republican conservative values and is crazy how biased they are

Some people like their "news" to be only what they want to hear... it can't be helped.

The interviewer seemed quite reasonable in that video clip. But fair play to the protesters, he gave good articulate answers.

It's like RTE and The Late Late Show, people always giving out about them yet TLLS has huge viewing figures every week.

You'd be surprised in the numbers of conservative republican Americans willing to swallow Fox propaganda

A news channel shouldn't be a source of opinion, they should be unbiased

Fox news basically pushes their conservative agenda on viewers, have you ever seen Bill O Reilly in action?

They should? Says who? So you don't think they should be free to publish what they wish? Land of the free indeed!

That is not a news show though. Its like reading an opinion piece in the Irish Times. Its an opinion program. How do people not understand this???

There is a left wing alternative to Fox News in America, MSNBC. They produce the same opinion shows but with a liberal bias.

The very idea of news reporting is to report objectivity on the facts, Fox don't do that because they are backed by a conservative agenda

Why do you get the idea I'm against free speech? One of the first things you learn as a reporter is to be objective and balanced, Fox aren't.

I don't think the two are comparable. The Late Late Show is an entertainment show first and foremost. Fox is supposed to be a news source providing unbiased information. It doesn't really do that. It has a clear right-wing agenda and anchors like Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity who are just loose cannons sometimes. It's not exactly 'fair and balanced'. There are definitely people who accept a lot of what's spouted on Fox to be fact, too, when really all they spout is opinion.

OP, it took me ages to realise that you wrote half of that sentence in a slightly different coloured font. Was tilting the screen for ages, thinking it was dirt or something, before I copped it! :o

Yes it is a news show, that report would have went into a news report. If they have an opinion piece they should have a level debate between two contrasting viewpoints with the fox anchor moderating, that's how TV news opinion works

Fox however often have the moderator join in on the side of the conservative debater in an effort to belittle the liberal or opposition to what Fox want people to think

Some news stations can have certain leanings but Fox take the piss with the level of bias in their reporting, this is a view held by millions in the US not just me

Even in the Simpsons you can see it, the show was never critical of Bush but always jumped at the opportunity to insult Clinton and make him out to be a dirtbag

No that is your definition of how a TV channel should operate. Remember Fox News is on cable. They can do what they like. And MSNBC functions exactly like Fox News but in the opposite political viewpoint. Their presenters push left wing ideas and agenda.

I just find it amusing that you castigate the American system for their apparent lack of free speech, and your reason for doing so is because they allow broadcasters the freedom to express their own views.

Practically all media outlets have biases- one only has to see that at election time. I presume that you don't censure/censor the Daily Mail or the Guardian for their obvious biases?

I know perfectly well they can do what they like but the fact that they call themselves a news station is laughable and I hate the conservative bile they brainwash people with.

News is supposed to be about objective reporting, Fox is not, therefore I and a lot of other people dislike it (in a similar way to how I dislike the mail here)

What is wrong with not liking a media outlet?

most people are annoyed by how they portray themselves as unbiased with slogans like "fair and balanced", "we report the news you decide", at least jon stewart made chris wallace admit that fox only report on one side so at least thats a start, however they don't even try to hide their bias while still claiming to be neutral, thats never been more evident than in the past 2 weeks

when did i say anything about an "american system"? My gripe is with Fox

the views only come from one side, that's the problem

Media outlets with one view-point and no objectivity are dangerous

RTE can be a bit biased sometimes but nowhere near the level that fox is

Fox is a a propaganda machine

The allegedly brainwashed people could just as validly point out that they believe you to be brainwashed with liberal twaddle.

Too many people think they are in possession of the objective truth. It started out with the conservatives, but unfortunately liberals are adopting it more and more every day.

    +1

It's important to recognise the difference between opinion shows like Chris Wallace which can push their own personal agendas all they want, and supposed objective reporting as seen in the "report" here

In fairness there's a big difference between saying "it's wrong" and "it should be banned". Free speech allows you criticize how others use their free speech

Is there any good tv news?

RTE, BBC, Fox, Sky, CNBC..they all play tricks.

Fox are singled out because they are right wing while most others are left. BBC and CNBC can be atrocious at times too.

I dislike Fox News as much as you (well actually, I kinda like them cos they make me laugh!), but they have as much right to peddle their spiel as you do.

I'd hate Fox just as much if their bias was directed from the left rather than the right side of the political spectrum. It's Fox claiming to be balanced when being anything but that bothers me, nothing to do with politics

I never once said they didn't have the right to do it?! I'm just saying why they I hate them and that people should take what they hear on Fox with a pinch of salt

But there are many very liberal outlets in the US. Indeed, I think the hysteria over Fox is a bit exaggerated considering the US has become far more liberal over the past few decades. The reason Fox et al exists is because the conservatives know they are losing the culture wars. It's the last, angry snap of an injured animal IMO.

All the Fox bashing in The Simpsons is in jest, Groening was hardly going to bite the hand that was feeding him

Don't you find it funny that in the 8 years G Bush jnr was president he wasn't made reference to once?

Clinton on the other hand was constantly the subject of jokes, in one episode he looks at the camera, winks and says :"But hey, I was a pretty lousy president"
