    Ya, I think the bolded bit is a likely outcome. Almost no one will be happy with that result though I'd say.

    i agree with this. I'll be happy with no ban but it'll be very unfair if he's tarnished as a racist.

    In my opinion this has to go one way or the other.

    Suarez guilty - book thrown at him
    Suarez innocent - Evra to be looked into for false allegations along with potential disrepute charge

    I think that would be pretty fair tbh.
    Why would you not want that? Apart from the fact you hope he is innocent?

    Well you'd have utd fans giving out that he was found to say something, it should have been a ban, and Liverpool fans give out saying that they believed the no intention line as they didn't give him an actual ban, but fudged it just because of who he is.

    I personally wouldn't think it was a bad outcome, and both sides could save face, but it would inevitably descend into the same hardline positions we've seen for ages and the discussion would not end.

    I just want his head to be in a position to play football for the club, and not actually be banned from doing so.

    Evra believes he was racially abused.
    Suarez says he used the word Negro/Negrito but not in a derogatory sense.
    Therefore Evra cannot have been bringing the game into disrepute.
    It could have been a misunderstanding(I personally don't think so)

    Liverpool FC officials still waiting patiently at Melwood for news on Suarez verdict.

    Surely we will get the verdict tonight.

    That's the key. The word was definitely used, so Evra can't be reprimanded for slander, or any other nonsense people are talking about.

    I hate reading opinions from people treating Suarez like a poor little Uruguayan who doesn't know better because of a language barrier. How long did he play in The Netherlands before going to England? If it's just a word that's used in a polite, un-racist context, why didn't this ever come up before while playing with plenty of black people during the peak of his career?

    I know footballers get a lot of stick for being stupid, but nobody is that oblivious.

    It's going to be an interesting couple of hours...

    The funnier thing is, he's spot on.

    Apologies.
    FA statement: Luis Suarez
    Tuesday, 20 December, 2011
    Independent Regulatory Commission reach conclusion in Suarez case.

    An Independent Regulatory Commission has today [Tuesday 20 December 2011] found a charge of misconduct against Luis Suarez proven, and have issued a suspension for a period of eight matches as well as fining him £40,000, pending appeal.

    On 16 November 2011, The Football Association charged Luis Suarez with misconduct contrary to FA Rule E3 in relation to the Liverpool FC versus Manchester United FC fixture on 15 October 2011.

    A hearing took place from 14-20 December 2011 before an Independent Regulatory Commission of The FA to consider the charge.

    The Independent Regulatory Commission announced its decision on 20 December 2011, which is as follows:

    Mr Suarez used insulting words towards Mr Evra during the match contrary to FA Rule E3(1);
    the insulting words used by Mr Suarez included a reference to Mr Evra's colour within the meaning of Rule E3(2);
    Mr Suarez shall be warned as to his future conduct, be suspended for eight matches covering all first team competitive matches and fined the sum of £40,000;
    the [penalty] is suspended pending the outcome of any appeal lodged by Mr Suarez against this decision.
    The Independent Regulatory Commission will provide written reasons for its decision in due course setting out:

    (a) the findings of fact made by it;

    (b) the reasons for its decision finding the charge proved; and

    (c) the reasons for the penalty.

    Mr Suarez has the right to appeal the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission to an Appeal Board. An appeal must be lodged within 14 days of the date of the written reasons for the decision.

    The penalty is suspended until after the outcome of any appeal, or the time for appealing expires, or should Mr Suarez decide not to appeal. The reason for this is to ensure that the penalty does not take effect before any appeal so that Mr Suarez has an effective right of appeal.

    Setting a huge precedent here, not that I'm against it but any lack of consistancy here is going to be honed in on.

    Good luck to a Football Association labeling a person a racist .

    Might need a higher court to take this one .

    Watch Terry walk !

    Not a surprising decision. The more we heard about it the worse it looked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,349 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

    There is no doubt Evra has issues and likes to play the victim what can be done about it is the question. If this plays out like it looks it will, Evra has done a huge disservice to the anti racism campaign in the premiership.

    'Sup.

    Have a look what they found him guilty of.

    Wow thats incredible good luck mods.
    If he is guilty I'm glad he's been banned they really should realise evidence though or the FA risks serious ridicule.
