Boaternomics?

As an avid follower of the bangernomics thread in the motors forum I thought there may be a market for something similar here.

I know there isnt a huge following in this forum but at this time of year I can only assume that most boater, like me, in lieu of being out on the boat like to look at pictures of 'em.

Its the cheapest time of the year to buy leisure craft and with the bottom effectively fallen out of the market there are some real bargains out there so post a few if you see them.

Some amazing value at the moment if you have some spare cash. Was talking to a guy launching at Hodson bay a while back. He picked up a nice little cabin cruiser for free in August. The previous owner couldnt afford to moor, maintain or put petrol in it and just wanted rid (he had no storage space of his own). The owner kept the outboard to sell and it needed a bit of work, but still free is free.

Any boat in particular? They seem like very average prices for those. The only exception being the Anderson 22. A cracking little boat for coastal exploring.

Teh link I cut and pasted was the "binary bit" one £1250 for a triple keel 4 berth boat. although the Anderson 22 was another I would have posted.

There is also a 21 footer for less than a k sterling with a 4HP outboard. I mean the outboard new is probably about 600 sterling anyway. Actually no it isn't because i looked at the picture:) and it is an older version of the suzuki i have. But what the hell It must be good for 400?? Mind you mine is insured for €1000.

This isnt cheap but for what itr is it is cheap. a 48 foot boat for less than 50k
And apparently it was a sail training boat so the spec must be up to scratch.
But the bowsprit is four foot so that makes it 44 foot. All the same...

Its abit kinda unique looking, nothing a consaw and abit of fibreglass wont fix though

That boat looks like it started life with an inboard or an outdrive and someone converted it to an outboard. I'd say it was a nice boat before someone terrorised it with the dodgy extension and the outboard. It must be very unstable with someone up on the back deck as there is no inboard engine to act as ballast. I think there are far better ways to spend €6500.

That Freeman is a good price considering what they go for here in Ireland. I've been over to Dickies once looking at a boat, a great place to spend a few hours fender kicking (the boat we looked at was not as the owner had described her however... :mad:)

What is the cruising range of that? I mean how many hours for the 100 gals? 20?24?
Is it fair to say cruise 18 knots? ~360 to 400 miles? for €150 fuel? Or even 20 knots ~480 miles?

had a little look around the marina were in at present as i'm looking at one or two myself.. Quite a few small boats for sale here but nothin in and around 5k really.. It's the maintenace and up-keep i find scary even on the small ones..

currently fitting out crew cabin's on a 60m super yacht.. she's a 2010 m/y with average running costs of about 150k a week according to captain.. mind bogling, but beautiful vessel..
