Didn't Mammy zenno ever tell you the dangers of assumption? :)

This is a problem I'm encountering in all aspects of the computer. not just in google chrome.

The HP update of NVIDIA did nothing :/

ok that makes you're point more clearer.

I was sure the problem related to the graphics card or driver. I will look into it a bit more and see if I can troubleshoot it.

just try this... it's a long shot but try it and see if it changes anything...

click the windows button and click control panel on the right. when in control panel look for and left click "SYSTEM".

when that opens then on your top left screen left click advanced system settings. when the box opens left click "advanced" up the top. then left click settings on the right side of where it says performance and make sure it is set to "let windows choose whats best for my computer. if this is already checked then click adjust for best appearance and click apply/ok and see if that does anything to affect the problem you are having if not go back and click let windows choose whats best for my computer.

That didn't affect the problem, zenno.

Just to clarify, I am grateful for the help you're offering and have tried everything that's been mentioned thus far.

and if that dosen't work you can try this to fix corrupt icons. this will work for corruptions within the icons and other things relating to your problem. hopefully. for vista/win 7/xp

hope one of them helps for you. if not we'll troubleshoot with something else. just make sure you restart the computer after removing the cache. don't worry it won't remove any icons, it will just clean the icon cache list up.

    Sssssorted!

I found the NVIDIA Control Panel and opened it. I played around with a few features but I think what did the trick was upping the Colour Quality which was set to the lowest mark.

Thanks for all the help and tips.

I think I've still got enough hair to pull off a half convincing comb over :o
