It depends, whether or not other cultures expect to operate/exist outisde the law of the host country.
Some of the opposition to multiculturalism seems to be along the lines oh "omg someone looks different believes in different stuff to me".
Anyway it wasn't that long ago that Nick Griffin types wouldn't have liked paddy culture all that much.

Well the USA has 'worked', whatever that means, for quite a long time and that's pretty much the definition of a multi-cultural society.
So, in-so-far as a nebulous question like this can actually be definitively answered, i'd go for yes.
And, before anyone mentions it, the citizenship test, does not counter the various ways in which the US is clearly a multicultural country.

Not gonna be arsed watching the video, but no multiculturalism doesn't work in its current form. It doesn't promote social inclusion. Those who come here and do best are those who include and immerse themselves in the society that already exists, rather than relying on a government model to make it work for them. If it was allowed to happen naturally and with as little interference as possible then it would be much better.

That lady from the Anti Racism network is a clown

    Fascist, Fascist, Fascist she cries

Put out a press release, slams Nick Griffin and then when she is invited to debate with him she won't do it

Why not says the radio show host? Why are you even on this radio show so if you won't debate?

Oh because of he a facist and people died in Norway she says

The man is allowed to talk but some want to shut him up but are afraid to debate with him

It can only work if people get it. England is a good example. So many English patriots now can't even put up the St George flag because they are afraid of being branded a racist. Of course which we know many black people and Sikhs are very proud to be British and very patriotic. The problem is not enough people are.

What pisses me off almost as much is people who think they can reap all the rewards of a democratic state but think they should be able to stop others from speaking their mind.

If Nick Griffin wants to talk, let him. Letting him talk is the rope he needs to hang himself anyway (even though he has hung himself many many times in the past)

I learned very little from that

The Pakistani man who called in nearly got more time then Nick Griffin did
Not realy an interview at all. It wasn't a shouting match and it wasn't a debate either

Not sure what I would call it

This is not an argument against multiculturalism, it's an argument against any people living together at all and says multiculturalism is as good or bad as anything else.

Anyway, Interculturalism is where it's at.

exactly, most of the publicity folks like him have got over the years has been been from people protesting their right to speak at all or shouting them down.

Well of course Nick Griffin is gonna have a point, but then Britain is only reaping what seeds it sowed elsewhere.

Multiculturalism is essential, but it's a difficult balancing act. ideally you want a bit of everything, not a lot of some and none of other - but it's important we seize the geographical opportunity to retain a sense of relatively undiluted purity. Like japan

Not really, this is a group of people who have been screened, trained, injected and psychoanalysised to fit this environment.

AND THEN, they ALL face the SAME destructive force and they all want to save the ship.

The all want to save the ship part is so very obviously missing as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans demonstrates.

Nick Griffin actually handled himself very well on that radio show. The anti fascist girl at the start was a huge idiot and a complete hypocrite.

Was a piece in some paper in the last year about some mob like the BNP selling CDs of "celtic culture" in one of their shops in Britain.

Turns out they were CDs full of songs gloryifing the various resistance movements in Ireland wiping out occupying British forces. :pac:

    Hilarious. :D

The US was predominantly run and designed entirely until the 1960s for white people since it was founded. Since the 1970s, it became "multicultural". Since the 1970s there has been a net drop in real income adjusted for inflation to now, 40 years later.

The US time of success was during it's period of entirely white european-descended monoculturalism.

The US has not been a monocultural entity since the arrival of European settlers.

Under America's version of apartheid, there was still more than one culture, it was just that one dominated the rest.

The drop in real income has everything to do with the way the US has been run for the benefit of the elite since the 70s and nothing to do with the repealing of racist legislation.

Multiethnic societies can work, multicultural societies are an entirely different matter.

Just listned to the full transcript of the OP vid.

Nick Griffin came across quite well, unlike some of his opponents.

Wouldn't agree with all he says...

Safe to say that things have gone too far PC IMHO.

For a lot of folk, people like him & what he represents, will start to become the answer to all their 'problems'.

    Food for thought people.

Firstly, you seem to be confusing 'culture' with 'race'; the US has had people objecting to what they saw as the inevitably deleterious/destructive effects of 'multi-culturalism' since the descendants of the first settlers were getting up in arms about the arrival of the dirty Irish/Italian/Polish catholics.
Regarding your point on the economy:
Some people, of a certain poltical persuasion, would argue that the 1980's, which i think you'll agree directly followed the 1970's, were something of a golden-age for the US economy; would it have been reasonable, so, for someone back then to argue that this up-turn was, in fact, entirely due to the influence of of 'multi-culturalism' rather than to, say, political decisions, and the economic template laid down under 'Reaganomics', alongside other factors?
I doubt there were many lining up to do so.
So wouldn't it be reasonable to opine that, perhaps, the current downturn could , in fact, be more accurately sourced in the financial template laid down under 'Reagonomics', alongside other factors, and by subsequent governmental decisions; such as the repeal of the 'Glass-Steagall Act', for instance?
I suppose, though, it's convenient for people who, for whatever reason, wish to do so, to lay the blame for everything at the door of 'multi-culturalism'.

I did that too. Then in which case.. seein as a certain culture here is an almost all encompassing self contained anticulture of the one uniculture .. -then what hope?!!

we already had multiculturalism, it was booming. but hitler yoof .. !!
